Cowboy .... cows necessary to spend quality time on a good horse.
Cattleman ... horse necessary to spend quality time with good cows.
If you think real hard about any cowboy you know, you will find that he's really a horseman first. I know a few that I would consider 'genuine cowboys', and what's really in their minds is that cows are the best reason for spending time with the horses.
And boy,are they good horsemen.
Weekend cowboys don't count. :wink: I know a few of those too, and I'm fine with them being horsemen, but cowboys they are not.
