What is a McNab

We use to call them McNab Aussies in the 50's

I have been looking for one and have been somewhat unsuccessful, but Nicky sent me a message where she had seen some for sale not to far from here so I am trying to get ahold of them.

We used to raise them years ago when I was growing up and I have yet to see a stock dog that impressed me as much as they did. After the last old female passed away we have been using borders, and heelers and it just hasnt been the same.lol

This sure has opened up something for me...My lil Jazzy has all the traits of these McNabs...the ears, skittishness,speed,shorthair,doesn't like other people..(big problem there)...very protective of me.....very catlike in her actions...and way more aggressive with stock than our other borders....we have always said that she's been different than all the other border collies we've owned over the years...the more I've read about them, the more I think she may very well have some McNab in her...although the guy we bought her from said her bloodline goes back to Hank...a great bordercollie...who knows? This sure makes me wonder????

I'm assuming that dog in the photo is your's? The dog has all the characteristics of a McNab. When I first looked at the photo, I thought it was a photo of my dog!! Some people say you can only tell by how they work whether or not they are a McNab. But how they look is a good first clue!

Best dog I ever had or probably ever will was a McNabe, trained herself and seldom made a mistake.

Was absolutely obsessed with fetching and would carry a stick while gathering cows, alway joked it was her sorting pole.

Lost her at 4, sad day.

She was brown and white, tight haired, alot like the dog above.
