Spraying thistles, treating gophers, feeding the bulls everyday, sold 3 Sunday, think I'm going to get a self feeder and stop this feeding them every day. However hand feeding them makes them gentler which buyers always like. Spraying cattle for flies already. Trimming horses feet. Got to get the bulls fertility checked.
And just trying to get everything done so we can take off for Manhattan, KS today. Saturday is the Little American Royal and the judging team reunion. I haven't been for several years. Sort of a special one this year for Don Good. Looking forward to seeing him. Traveled a many a mile in his old Pontiac station wagon.

I just got finished checking for new calves. Need to get saddled up and go move the rest of the cows over close and then tag calves and move pairs out. I've been going thru 3 horses a day trying to get them going good. Hopefully I will be able to sell them this summer for a decent price.

Seems like prices are looking pretty good for horses that you can trust and get a job done with and not have
to train on all the time you are riding.

Just got the "Hostile Native" off to town. She thinks she wants to go back to work so she going to check at the co-op. FH, I've got 5 at different stages. All but 1 is papered. Those that are papered have pretty nice pedigrees. There are a couple running bred and the rest are cowhorse bred. Overall, a nice bunch with a little color on some.

We are on the tailend of calving now... I think we have maybe fourty cows and 8 hiefiers... Not bad for calving about a month.... Been working my colt everyday I can... My tulips are blooming and the curlews have been here for a week or two... Hubby is fertilizing wheat and getting spray for weeds. Oldest son will be home from college for this weekend and he will be out for the year by May 8th.. Say prayers for the youngest and his spelling test.. Bless his heart.. He's having trouble concintrating with spring in the air.. He tried to halter break his calf, but sunshine had a tear in his eye from being tied up so that is out... Ameego seems alittle better.. He's traveling better and seems more alert..

Going bull saling today...Lee Humbert has his North Country Angus sale at the local stockyards...40 bulls and 15 registered heifers...Need to go see how they do...
And hopefully if the weather guessers are right- I'll be sitting in the house and enjoying the rain showers they are predicting...

Weeellll, after reading about so many ambitious people I hate to say that I am doing as little as possible for as long as I can . . . .
Well actually I'm waiting for rain and doing a bit of cleanup around the place. Calves should be hitting the ground rihgt soon too. Only 1 so far.

periods of heavy snow continuing through Saturday morning. Snow
may briefly change to rain on Friday... but is expected to return
to snow by Friday night.
* Total snow accumulations... snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet
expected by Saturday morning in the mountains with 6 to 12
inches of snow around 8000 feet... especially near the Colorado
border.
* Winds/visibilities... westerly winds will shift to the north
Friday and Friday night with sustained winds between 15 to 30
mph and gusts up to 45 mph... resulting in areas of blowing and
drifting snow. Visibilities will fall below a half mile at
times.
* Impacts... travelers should be prepared for low visibilities and
snow packed and slushy roadways... especially above 8000 feet.
The worst conditions will likely occur Friday and Friday night.

I am lazy but I am not a :liar: I will have you know. Today I had a couple of guys here all afternoon looking at my new shop talking about building options (for a building on their farm) and y'know what? That kind of "work" suits me just fine! :nod: :nod: :nod: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :hat:
