Let us know if you figure a way to make money with cows. :D

It would be a novel idea.
Take picture of said cows. Insert picture into grader cab. Cows will be with you while you make money. 100% done calving heifers in 23 days. Cows 75% in 21 days.
Move to city. Pimp cows out as organic alternative to lawn care (mow, weed and feed). Count cash.
Already do this for a few acreages. No charge, free grass. The cows are doing what cows naturally do. Only bred the hfs for 25 days so it is not as great of a feat as it sounds.

Getting ready to brand tomorrow.
Making rolls, salads, potato casserole, desserts and getting the roast ready for the cooker tomorrow.

Got my new stove and it is time for a serious breaking in.

Your cows are whores Per. :P :P :P :P

80% calved in the first cycle , probably never have that happen again :D .

Plannin on cuttin the first hay field either tomorrow afternoon or Sunday. Been needin to do it for a week or more...but with the rain that's been in and out of the area off and on thru this last week...wasn't happenin.

Rain passed us by again so I probably should have cut today. Sprayed some weeds and worked on some fence instead. Not really looking forward to cutting. Going to be a rough ride over some of it.

Yep- that would make a person happy....We had 73% on first cycle- and we're sitting right a little above 90% today- with the second cycle ending tomorrow....All the follow alongs should (and darn sure look like they will calve by May 15).... :D :D

And "KNOCK ON WOOD"- no frozen ears, or tails, or whatever...Except for those calves lost because I didn't get them out of the snowdrifts early enough when they started calving 15+ days early- the calving year has been great....Really a good calving year- except for the early deep snow...
And so far no stray Char bull white/grey/off color calves or anything- so I'm waiting to give the buyer a bad time on what he will dock on to get his whiskey money from this time

Had plenty of people here and the branding went quick. Had plenty of food.

Wind is howling like crazy and had a small shower when we got done.

Have 9 head left to calve.

Yep, I had great calving as well, and actually enjoyed it. It went as good as it possibly could have considering the weather, the amount of heifers, and the labor force :D . This was the first year where I calved out mostly genetics I've been shooting for, and am pretty excited. I hope the trend continues through fall.
