How about the serious BSE problem in Texas. One cow that tested positive for BSE and another with all signs of BSE that was passed against USDA protocol and that's just the two that made it into the media. There could be countless others out there. Who knows how many have been covered up, buried, and missed using the IHC test instead of the Western Blot test.

We actually had developed a really good market shipping our cattle to the US. It took years of development and we were confident enough in it to let the US slaughter our cattle for us which helped their economy, so I don't know how R-CALF has helped in that way.

Our testing has always been one step ahead of the US particularly in the past 26 months.

We had all the slaughter capacity we needed until the US cattle buyers including some prominent R-CALF members came north and started paying top dollar for our superior Canadian beef cattle and out competed the local plants. So any help they've given us on that was accidental. Better get back out to your disease ridden Texas cows and think up something else to help us out.

R-Calf does NOT have a corner on the market for trying to give BEEF a BAD NAME! A lot of organizations and individuals are trying also!! Let us not forget the AD Agency NCBA used prior to 1990..... :roll: If they want to give a trophy for this one....they need to get a lot of them!!

Haymaker, if you truely belief what you wrote above, there is nothing I or anyone can say to make you believe otherwise.

With your line of reasoning, I can conclude that if a group of people from another area, torched your place and your town because you were competition and "diseased" - that you would believe they were working on your behalf and give them credit while you rebuild the structures and businesses.

DES MOINES, Iowa —(USDA)— The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report on all fed steers and heifers sold last week gained 17 cents at $135.26. Prime grade, with the smallest volume in about four weeks, moved up $4, branded lost 50 cents, Choice gained 35 cents, and Select and ungraded, making up 62 percent of the volume, moved up $1.20-1.70.

There were 27 loads of Prime at an average price of $168.47, 619 loads branded at $139.28, 2026 loads Choice at $135.80, 1775 loads Select at $132.62, and 2622 loads ungraded at $131.35.

The average price on rib was $203.79, chuck $105.35, round $112.61, loin $201.63, brisket $83.13, short plate $90.60, and flank $84.89.

There was a total of 7073 loads, including 6843 domestic and 230 exports, with 3257 loads negotiated for delivery within 21 days, 622 loads negotiated for delivery over 21 days, 2492 formula loads and 701 forward contract loads.
