There's fire! :x Won't bore you with more lack of moisture complaining. Thunderstorms have been kinda popping up which is great cept' when they forget to rain and send dry lightning instead. Lots of strikes last night but only one started a fire. We responded along with a BLM crew up here from the Gila National Forest in New Mexico helping knock down the many fires we've had in Utah. Didn't get any pictures cause it was way after dark. The good news is we had it out by 1 a.m. The great news is myself and another volunteer firefighter (local rancher/neighbor in his 40's like me) beat the 9 BLM fulltime firefighters up the mountain in the dark 3 miles! :D We may be old but we smoked those boys!  Today, a strike from last night right next to my cows flared up and spooked us good. Standing inside my fenceline of my leased ground looking at the fire about 2 miles west. Guess you'll have to click on the pictures to see em' bigger. Don't know why?

It was in moderately thick juniper trees, but the local guys from Rushvalley and the BLM jumped on it quick.

Helicopter support works well in the daylight. Us sinners have to hike in the dark while those guys had help from above.

Burned under 20 acres before they knocked it down. Thankfully the wind was only breezy today or it could'a been much different.

Helicopter coming in from the north to make a drop.

Bullseye! I stayed up there all afternoon incase cows needed to move. But the firefighters and the weather combined to make a spooky situation settle down. It's even sprinkling right now at 12:37 mountain time. Don't want'a jinx it! :D

We have been getting the same type of weather. Lots of lightening, and just enough sprinkles to almost get your shirt damp. The local volunteer departments have sent a couple trucks to the big one east of us, so Lisa and I have stayed home with the ranch rig.
Kbar2 has lost lots of grass he had leased north of us, and Flyin S has been busy moving cattle out and through the fires. His dogs are pretty amazing to watch.
All I can say is stay safe!!!

We've also had similar weather, with several lightning caused fires in the forest but the FS worked those themselves. We've had a couple fires of suspicious origin... sure don't need that nonsense with such dry conditions in the district.

Stay safe.

I'm prayin' for rain for ya! Mulching is helping me hold garden moisture(a little)....I'll be out and we can mulch and hand water the state of Utah, starting with your place. :D
