My eldest daughter had a face to face encounter the other day while out riding by herself. She just got off to open a gate and happend to hear something, so she looked across the saddle and about 10 feet away was a cougar in the grass, apparently not happy about being disturbed. She remounted quick like and came back home in tears. I'm pretty glad that little mare handled it reasonably well, at she got her home without dumping her there on the ground.
Anyway, I haven't hunted cougars before, I'd kinda like to get rid of this devil. Neighbours have lost some colts the last couple of years to them and I don't want themn this close to kids, cats, dogs, calves, etc. I suppose hounds are about the best way, how fresh does the trail need to be? I figure some of you must have dealt with these things before so I'm wondering how you did it. Thanks.
