We had a neighbor call yesterday and had one in the trap. It was a medium size sow. Tween 80 and 100 lbs. He asked if we wanted it. So we went n loaded her up. Brought her home, butchered her this mornin. Then about the time we got done, the phone rang again, and he had 3 more in the trap. So we went n got them too. So looks like we'll be makin sausage in the next few days. Woo hoo!!!!!

Here's the first one.....I called her "Blonde"

The local ' 'hawg hunter' here is busy also. Seems all this rain had brought them down from the higher hills lately.

One darted across the road in front of me yesterday PM.

The guys here went wild pig hunting in Oklahoma last year. They had a ball. Our trouble was getting it processed as with the deer diesease a lot of local processors now don't do wild game. Finally a guy did it that does it out of his backyard. It made really good sausage and pork loins. However, it takes a big wild hog to make enough meat to mess with. Or at least that was our experience.

Wow...I'm thinking this is about as close to them critters as I want to get...They look like they'd take a hunk out of ya if they could...I know my brother lives for "hawg" hunting and they eat lots of meat..I tried some and I guess I didn't have the right kind of palate..lol :?

When the group from here went hunting the guy running the place they hunted warned them that they are mean. When one was shot they had to hurry and get it picked up so others didn't smell the blood and they'd have had to fight for their killed boar.

Most of ours was made into breakfast sausage and the guy who did it seasoned it just like it was a farm pig.

The only other we had was a loin and grilled it.

I'd had wild pig when I visited Canada and it was greasier. I'm not sure if it was the difference in pigs or the way it was prepared. I wasn't to fond of it the first time I had it there either.

No it is the lifestyle those wild bores live up here...drinking all night and thier hankering for poutine and greasy fast food burgers.... ...You can just tell by looking at most of them, that thier choleteral count must be through the roof.....really if you ask me,they live like pigs for gosh sakes...... :D

20 yrs ago when I worked for a game farmin outfit I loaded a trailer full to ship for a fella that lost his German Shepard to his boars.Fool dog got in the pen with em and by the time his owner got back with a gun all that was left was hair...he had em locked in an old bin when I got there and wouldn't go in to push em into the trailer...wouldn't let his boy go either...
me and my ol Sherwood took care of it...
they're nasty little buggers but they can be tasty,I've et lots of boar and I think the best was smoked chops...mmmmm
