I have to give Mrs. HD credit for the picture. Well, most of the pictures we post are taken by her since I don't carry a camera much. Here is a side shot of the same truck.

It is a White, it has a Cat engine mounted on the frame. I'm not sure where it came from or for what it was used last but, I would like to have it! It is very restoreable and in great condition. A fella out south/east of Holbrook is starting a "collection" he keeps bringing in old trucks and is lining his lane with them.
 
I was going to ask if it was buyable. It should be on the road. It is almost old enough to fit into my fleet. :wink:
 
I thought it might be a White. Can you are anyone tell us more about the White? Back in the 1940's the Ross Transfer Co used Whites. I was told that they had a 2 cycle engine.

Back in 1944, Dewey, on his campaign for president, stoped in Valentine. School was let out that day. A T Bracket the store keeper in Kilgore, arranged a ride for my brother and I on the Ross Truck to Valentine. The driver was Andy Koraleski. To attract a crowd there was a rodeo that day. The first rodeo I had watched. Benny Bender was the clown, and he participated in bulldogging.

Cherry County had supended fairs and rodeos during the war years, so this was pretty well attended.

That old Dodge Power Wagon had been setting in the trees for years. Last summer I decided I should have a picture of it.

Except for the Jeep and maybe the International, the Dodge Power wagon was the forerunner of the 4 wheel drive pickup. I don't remember for sure but I think this was a 1949. The Army three quarter ton was a somwhat striped down power wagon. I have rode some miles in them and have driven one a few. I believe the Navy used the International.

I bought this Power wagon at a farm or ranch sale several years ago, I paid $100 for it. It had dauls on the rear and a stake bed, combination box. We put a wagon hoist under the box. We used it as an extra truck to haul grain from the combine, and in the spring to take seed oats to the field for planting. It was easier to fill the drill out of then the bigger truck.
Some times we put ground feed in it, and we used it to haul dirt. I don't believe we ever lisensed it to drive on the roads.

I don't think it teally stoped running, we just didn't have use for it anymore.
