..... we should take up a collection and buy RA a motor powered baler before he dies of heat stoke or frustration.

Maybe if I went and got a town job I would have money for better equipment![]()

Besides, building fence the way you do builds character. It also gives you time to contemplate the sins of ranching you have committed. Namely, goat herding. Just think of your fence building as penance.

True, but then your kids wouldn't have a parent at home.

I'd love to use something like those beaver slides up north, but I think I would lose a lot of hay to weather here.

I learned how to drive running a D-17 Allis Chalmers with an F-10 mounted on it, bucking up little round bales baled with an Allis Roto-Baler. Musta bucked several jillion of 'em in piles. The little rounds shed water pretty good.
That old Allis and a '62 Chevy pickup taught me how to drive, cuss, dip snuff, spit, and how to let one roll down hill and let the clutch out to get 'em to start. Dad was too cheap to put a good battery in either one of those machines. Some of those memories ain't all that great, Katrina... :x :x

It's called an F-10 FarmHand loader with a hay sweep head. I grew up on that thing.
