Old Stanko plant at Gordon.
Old Stanko plant at Gordon.
Brad S said:Well, its open. I guess you're right about the Rubishkin (whatever) family not being anybodies' first choice. What I know about Stanko is not real flattering, but the cow kill plant was great for the region. The kosher plant doesn't employ nearly as many workers, and there aren't many sheep, goats, chickens and turkeys grown in the Sandhills. Are you referring to something else about the kosher plant?
Do you know where the old rendering works are north east of town? A mile east of the north east corner of the airport. The kosher packer management is dumping giant boxes of sheep hides and whatever nastiness I don't know within the walls of the rendering plant. No roof on the plant and no doors, consequently its an open air dump. I'm not at all fond of this practice and suspect its illegal.
