I guess it is official - - - My grand daughter has had all shots but still contracted Whooping cough , over 1/2 of her kindergarten class had it.

When I got to the Veterans hospital they decided I have whooping cough - - - at 65 years old! My mother (87 years old ) says I have never had it - - - well I can check that off my bucket list. I was coughing so hard that I would vomit and my ribs were so sore they felt like they were broken.

They show I have had a booster shot every year for the last few but said that will not stop the disease - - - just lessens the severity and length.

The doctor said people don't die from Whooping cough they die from exhaustion fighting it!

I feel much better today but I am to stay away from any "dust" for at least 2 weeks - - - we have not had rain sense June - - - everything is dust.

My kids have told me I'm officially a big baby now!

Wow, I thought I had set some sort of record getting a terrible case of chicken pox at 17.
Take care of yourself George.

The doctor said with the inoculations I received I should be good in 2 to 3 days - - - that was Thursday so I am anticipating a good day tomorrow. They said it would be 2 to 3 weeks if I had not been inoculated.

The doctor said with Whooping cough the reason people die is from exhaustion and I can sure believe it! I have gone from 5 to 10 coughing fits per hour to one every 3 or 4 hours and they are not as severe. I have to keep reminding myself how much worse I felt yesterday so I guess this in not so bad!

I took my prescriptions with a certificate for payment to the local WalMart stating that VA will pay - - - the pharmacist handed the paper back to me and said WalMart no longer participates with the Veterans Administration and handed me a bill for $100.82

I needed the medicine so I paid - - - thank you Obama!

5 days later and feeling weak as a kitten but better each day.

The doctor said to expect 2 weeks for a good recovery but the work goes on!

I doubt I will get a full day in but we will see.

Soap I hope your recovery moves forward each day!

My most distress is staying away from my grand children. No Fever since Saturday so I'm not supposed to be contagious! I stayed home from church yesterday to make sure I did not pass it on.

George, I just got back from visiting the DAV van in our little village--comes maybe twice a year----I've been diagnosed with copd and have not smoke half a pack of cigarettes, total, in my life.

I thought of about 4 'incidents' in my army career that caused me respitory distress---and never went on sick call for any of them. But i'm pretty convinced that's what caused it. DAV guy said it'd be hard to get a claim approved, but he'd put one in---that maybe they'd decide agent orange contributed to copd--

So---I'm leaving and another bud---and coincidentally enuf, another 82nd airborne vet---got to Vietnam about 8 mos after I did---he's next in line---and they've been cat scanning his lungs and now want to do a biopsy---WTF?!

If you or any other vets have something similar, i'd love to hear about it.

My doctor put in a claim for me - - - who knows where it will go. She feels I should be eligible for a 50% disability, 2 bad knees, heart problems, hernia, back surgery, skin cancers. hearing problems, broken shoulder, now Whooping cough - - - I guess if you live long enough you get to experience lots of things!

I got out of the USMC with major hearing loss in my right ear but I felt otherwise OK

Now I find out that while I considered myself lucky to spend almost 3 years at Camp Lejune N.C. as crypto Tech repairing equipment sent in from all over the world ( Mostly Viet Nam) I have been notified by the Dept of the Navy that I have been poisoned by the water there!

I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, tenisis in both ears, multiple skin cancers.

The blood pressure and cholesterol are both symptoms of the water there plus much of the gear that came in was covered in everything the grunts had encountered ( agent orange was only one issue).

What I was so mad about the other day was I had the proper paperwork that I was to get my medications and the pharmacy was to bill the Veterans Agency - - - The pharmacist at the local WalMart said WalMart will not honor Veterans billing anymore.

Walmart has been in this town for about 30 years now and all competition has dried up and left so they are now able to make the rules and I guess Veterans are not needed.
