The old bull that was goin to the sale barn, didn't cooperate, and so he was roped in the pasture.

He was across the creek so we had to put at trailer on a tractor to git back there to load him.

Should the tag go in the calf's ear, or Lil Lilly's?

She gotter another one!!!

Tried to get a shot of the inside of the lil hair lip/cleft lip calf, but couldn't git it on camera. I did run my finger all up in the roof of her mouth and there's not a hole...so it's just the nose thats a lil different. She'll be ear marked for the freezer.

And working in T-shirts!!! Come on now Lilly. Only hint of spring we've had so far is the frogs singing once.

Thanks for shareing your day .Lilly, good looking stock & help............good luck
PS git your tall boots, gonna rain :D

HeHe, can't help it if spring time in Texas comes a lil earlier here than it does for ya'll up north. I love seein ya'lls pictures of snow too.....my tour of the north...from my livin room, and I dont even hafta put on a jacket!!!

The guys actually got sunburnt necks yesterday. It started out around 40 degrees and then warmed up nice. Lil warmer this mornin than it was yesterday.

Gonna go pick up my new bull this afternoon...woohoo!!!!

And yeap Haymaker, I looked at the forecast and it looks like rain all week.......let er rip!!!!! (no wonder we'll have rain next week, shoulda knowed it would since Mr Lilly has inservice training all week, out on the shootin range and such. LOL I just showed him the forecast and he said....oh great.....cuz they hafta do their shootin no matter what the weather.)

What kinda of shooting training is Mr Lilly gonna do ? I guess since he works at the hoosegowe he hasta keep his shootin skills up ta speed ? :D ..........good luck
PS Where did you decide ta get you a bull from.

I see the one pic of you giving a shot that you have a long tube hooked to the bottle. I wonder if any calves kicked and caught the tube with its legs?

Nope no one got kicked or got their leg in the syringe tube. It's easier workin the calves on the ground than it is to try to run em thru the chute, now when they get a lil bigger than that, they get worked in the alley leadin up to the chute. unless of course they haven't been cut, then it's rope and drag em. But we try to work em when they are smaller, easier on us
Mr Lilly was givin the shots, once it was on the ground and held down, he'd move in and give em the shots.

Yeap haymaker, once a year, he hasta do the inservice trainin (he hates it), to keep up with all the new rules, and make sure he can shoot what he's aimin at.....funny they make em do all that and then don't give em a gun....
and what's even weirder, he's not even in the security end of the deal anymore.

Bull originally came from Myers Ranch just north of College Station, he was bought as a 18 mo old, and used on Mr Lilly's uncles ranch for 2 years. I'm workin on gettin some more info on him from Mr. Myers, but I like the way he looks, and I've seen a group of heifers that were out of his first bunch of calves, and they are some really nice lookin heifers, just now calvin for the first time.

Thanks, Lilly for sharing!! Wish it was nice like that up here. Our time will come....
YUP! we don't have Cardinals here, either. The Bluebirds have shown up, so have the Killdeer and blackbirds. Sure sign of spring!! The turkeys are gobbling & struttin' their stuff and gophers are up. Yep, spring is here, 'cept it doesn't feel like it weather-wise. :D 8)
