I was wondering what your guy's operations are like, I will explain are operation first.
We have around 70 commercial black angus cows and start to calve around march 5th, and end around april 25th, calves get banded and vaccinated in may and go out to pastures which we put 1 pair for every 8 acres, and turn bulls out in june. We put up alfalfa, slough, grass, and hay barley hay for winter feed. We wean calves in November, and sell them off the cow. Then turn cows out to winter pasture till late december, then they come home till may.

We used to have a cow/calf operation, but with the health problems of my parents I have change to running feeder calves. Right now I have 700 hd of 500-600 lbs steers mostly black with a few blondes mixed in. 400 of them came from South Texas and the other 300 are from a guy in Crockett Texas. If running feeder cattle is as easy as what these calves have been I wish we would have done this years ago, but the next group maybe a totally different story.

We will be breeding around 175 AN cows on a combination of lease, rent and deeded acres. Young group are AIed AN and cleaned up with an AN bull, older group are bred SM and Max. All replacements come from the young group. Calve in May/June, wean in early October. Background calves and graze cows on tame in spring/summer and native in summer/fall/winter.
We swath graze later in the winter.
Calves are sold, some are grassed, some are beefed. We rotational graze and are starting an experiment with some custom cows.
We operate on hay and swath grazing, but have not gotten as far as bale grazing, other than putting bales out and not getting that far into our swath grazing stack...

Well my dad is starting to slow down now so gonna start caring for his cows now to. Hfs just got started with nine on the ground so far. Gonna calve the hfrs and about 100 cows here at my place and 150 or so cows at dads which is half hour away so gonna be a busy calving season. Wean and background calves in oct til after first of the year or fatten them if the futures look promising. Some cows go to corn stalks for the winter and some just on winter grass. Also do custom haying and buy straw and stalks to bale and sell to feedlots. Pickup whatever hay I come across doing custom work or shares to feed.
