The greys are not the favored color in this breed. In the purebred
shows, I think the chestnut color is the most favored, followed by
black, bay and the seal brown. But the dapple grey is my favorite.
We don't participate in the shows---just trail ride whenever the
chance arises.
Actually...
Here's my pearl. Her color reminded me of a black pearl.
She's 4 yrs old in this photo. She's the only horse I have
ever found that I could ride 6+ hours and not have an aching back or knee. The cadillac ride - purebred Peruvian Paso.
I've been told that the dapple grey will eventually...
Viewpoint: We are facing a severe survival test
By Joe Baker, Senior Editor Back
This is the winter of our discontent and also of our discomfort. Our wake up call has arrived. U.S. News, in a recent article analyzing the energy outlook, predicts the next several months will test our...
We are sure hungry for greenery around here. Our normal rain for
the year is a little over 20 inches...and we are about 10 inches short
this year. It's very very tough on pasture, bushes, trees, etc to go
into such cold weather with the soil dry down past the subsoil.
Our chill factor was more...
I have been reading a discussion board of energy and petro
traders/investors since 1998. In the first few years, 99% of
the discussion was about investments, energy-insider stuff, etc.
Since 2001 more and more emphasis has been on the concept
of "peak oil", i.e. the depletion of fossil fuels...
I'm wondering how it would feel if we had a "grandchildren" category
and no one voted for my grandchild. Logically, it should not matter;
but..............
Well, it would not matter---we are all grown-ups; right????
The year/rain sure does make a difference. Here's a photo of a 10 yr
old registered cow, Petunia. In the average(read:dry) year she will
weigh about1150 to 1250. The year this picture was taken we had a
nice summer; seemed like it rained an inch or so every 3 weeks.
She weighed 1385...see the...
The Comanche tribe is headquartered in SW Oklahoma...with
many, many tribal members in this area. They are doing pretty
well with their casino and bingo halls now.
the casting director swept through this area when they were looking
for extras for the movie The Last of the Mohigians. They...
Yes, the heifer came with the cow--she was a couple of months
old when we got her. She is bred now to have her first calf
next spring. We had thought about flushing the old cow, but
she is really really nervous in a chute...but likes to be
curry combed or back-scratched out in the pasture. Must...
Here's a photo of a 16 yr old bred cow - Bonnie Sue. We liked her
so much that we bought her as an open 14 yr old(a leap of faith!).
She has a terrific hindquarter, and her back is as wide as a circus
horse. Her calf is due in the spring---hope it looks just like her.
