Run into same problem......thought I had liquid left over, but when I got to 30 calves out of the 50 it was supposed to get out of a bottle, I understood what I did wrong. Some back and forth needed to be done...so didn't get everything vaccinated, but some got too much.

IMHO.....don't try to beat the markets, buy what you are comfortable with and sell the same way...you may not hit the highs, but you shouldn't always hit the lows. If you "have to" top the market, it won't be fun!

I do bale grazing and swath grazing on the same land I grow the bales on...usually a cereal or millet. The reason for bale grazing is in case of heavy snow. The trick is to have them cleanup....which, in my case, means harvesting earlier than optimum. Its easy to get them to clean up grain...

Spoke to a fellow who used to work there...says the writing has been on the wall for awhile...but they have to blame something....

If it is antibiotics in the feed, I would applaud their decision....if it is the occasional use of antibiotics, that is different. Spoke to an organic fellow the other day an he stated they can use antibiotics, but the withdrawal time is twice the stated label.

Sorry to hear, but there may be a reason....why it didn't happen....

2 year olds never seem to bring the value they should be......as we have moved into later calving, wondering if I should push hard for later markets....June/July or hold most over as two year olds....but it doesn't seem to pay.....

An old pig scale works great, cage and big round scale. put on 2 wheels, hitch behind quad and off to the races....just walk them in.....

Some cow families I want to keep all the females from, so the "same " number system can stack up quickly, and what a pain to get a name that starts with the letter of the year............

Just use order of birth with letter of year and put momma's number and sire code on bottom of tag. Other info can be looked up quickly on smart phone if need be, We now use the name on reg papers the same, but the tatto is included, so that gives you cow family and the individual in the name.

A few years back, think my daughter was about 12, I put a calf on a sled and asked her to take back to barn to warm up while I dealt with something else. When I came into barn, she had wrapped calf in an insulated loggers jacket and had a hair dryer shooting warm air up the sleeve. Worked...

2cc of Estrumate plus 5cc of Dex 5 should do the trick.....anything beyond 6 months could be a problem, but as part of the cattle industry....no guarantees... ;-0
