I've used the old fertilizer spreader deal. An over center drop box is a must as the ground drive floor chain doesn't move fast enough and the ribbon of feed is too thin. The trick is in keeping the thing on if your ground is rough at all, not much clearance.

Elk require a whole NEW rifle
For sure you need a new rifle. Elk are tough and if you shoot one with your old thirty-thirty you might strain your barrel! Not worth the chance.

When this happens I bypass the twine tensioner in the twine box. Seems some bales of twine are tighter, especially when starting a new spool.
Not really a fix, but it works for me.

Nice bunch of cattle there George. Good bull too. You like his pedigree enough to keep daughters, he bred everything up and his calves are growing like gangbusters. With good cows and your feed resources I doubt a high dollar bull would pay for himself.
