    Time for a new trailer

I have a 2015 Wilson that I bought new after pulling a steel trailer for 28 years. Looking at other brands of used trailers and talking to Wilson owners convinced me to buy the Wilson. I ordered mine with a flat floor because I wanted to put mats in it. The door latch doesn't wrap around the...

    Stock trailers

I really like the 24' Wilson I traded for this year. I got it with the flat floor option so I could put mats in it to make it better to haul horses. Another nice feature on the Wilson is the slam catch on the back gate, makes it easy to get the lever latch closed on a full load of cattle. All...

    balers????

I had a JD 530 for 25 years and moved up to a JD 568 last year. The 568 will handle way more hay than the 530. I haven't had any problems baling light hay, as little as half a bale an acre. I run throttled down a little most of the time.

What is the primary truck brand on your operation?

I have '99 and '01 Ford F-350's both with 7.3 diesels and 6 speed manuals. Both have been very good to me. I have a '06 Dodge with 5.9 Cummins and 6 spd manual. The Fords get better mileage than the Dodge, the Dodge has more power. The per mile cost on the Dodge got a little expensive when I...

    ranch pictures 7-18-2013

Had a neighbor trade for a pull type rotary. It was one of the drier years and in our thin dryland hay all it did was thin what was there a little. That and it broke several windows in the tractor cab. He couldn't trade back to sickle type soon enough. The extra speed wouldn't help me any, my...

Hooking up pump jack with a small briggs engine

Brand of pump jack would help. they have different gear ratios. On a Duplex I use a 12" pulley on the jack and I think a 2 1/2 on the motor to get it to run 40 strokes a minute or a little less with the engine at 3/4 throttle. I have one Monitor jack with a 16" pulley on it since the jack has a...

    'nother tractor question

Good advice, being cheap up front may be an expensive lesson if she can't get service so its running when she needs it.

    Mahindra Tractors

Mahindra tractors are built in India. They build a lot of them and I have heard some good things about them. The ex in-laws have one and like it. I wouldn't buy one because of the lack of service here.

    Trailers

A friend used to live west of me that had a Wilson. He 30 miles of gravel to get out of his place in any direction. He pulled the Wilson a lot of miles and only had to replace tires. Said buying it was the best thing he ever did.

Found this trailer Is it too big?

Back in the late 70's I headed to town with 7 cows in a 16' bumper trailer behind a Chevy 1/2 ton 4X4. Got about 10 miles down the highway and the trailer started to fishtail. I was using the trailer brakes and everything else I could to get it straitened out. Ended up turning the whole thing...

    ATV question

I've got a'97 Arctic Cat 454 with over 12000 miles. It's been a good machine still has the original back tires. It has a tow bar on it so I pull it behind when I'm moving machinery, got pretty well broke to lead. I have 2006 Arctic Cat 650 TBX. It's an automatic and has been trouble free until...

    Round Bale unrollers?

Here's one of mine. Here's the second one. They are built for 5' bales, about 55" between the round plates and about 35" between the pins closed. The second one was built a little lighter to use on a smaller tractor that is a little limited in 3pt lift capacity.

    Need a New Truck

I've got Ranchhand bumpers on my trucks. The one deer I didn't hit dead center did take out the mirror but other than that the deer was the only thing damaged. they either got knocked into the ditch or went under the truck and trailer.

john deere can kiss my you know what

I agree, sometimes an extra little bit of time will return bigger dividends. I try not to call after hours, but there have been times when I called just before closing and had them set parts out by the back door so I could pick them up that evening instead of waiting until morning. I did call a...

john deere can kiss my you know what

Service is the reason I run John Deere. The local dealer has slipped a little since they were bought out by a larger multi store dealer but they are still way ahead of the others. Neighbors Massey was down almost 2 months waiting for a part to come from Europe.

Question on a small hp tractor

Looked at the ad, I think the tractor will do what she wants to do. I have some reservations about parts availability in the future since it was built by Shibaura in Japan and is 25 years old. http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/000/2/5/253-ford-1710.html

Question on a small hp tractor

With snowblowers how wide it is and how fast does she want to go will determine if the tractor has enough power. With a package deal the snowblower is probably matched to the tractor. No cab, its pretty common in light wind conditions to have a bunch of fine snow drift back over the tractor and...
