    Summer's Over

Summer is over when I have to move my boots and coat to the furnace cellar from the garage and I did that today. Still not bad temps outside but we are getting a few showery, chilly days now.

    Question on Pickup Shocks

I don't know what kind of load you are putting in the back of that pickup, but in my experience, nothing will blow out shocks quicker than overloading them. I carry a BIG load on my Chevy 1500 regularly several times a year, but not weekly or anything like that. My shocks would not take it...

    Southern Style Camp Stew

Well that looks like a great appetizer - what's for main course?  Fill in the cracks with a big slice of pecan pie, maybe? Do you peel the taters or scrub them and toss'em in?

    Now this IS bad...

Send'er south there buddy! We are still dry here, even after receiving about 3 inches in September/October. The creeks are just a trickle and the rivers are showing their gravel bottoms. The guys that are plowing are turning up powder. A huge contrast to a year ago right now when everything was...

    Pellet Stoves

Well even at the sharply higher prices you are paying, that comes to only $3.00 a day in the dead of winter! That sounds pretty good to me. I would expect that you have a lot less mess and work than we do with our wood furnace!!!

    andybob

But fascinating it was. Thank you very much for your story. It sounds like you are a man who has seen both the good and ugly sides of life. It makes me think that those of us who have had the privilege of being born and raised on this incredibly great continent usually fail to see how good we...

    andybob

Congratulations, andybob and Mrs. andybob! I am curious, were you in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe all your life before coming to the U.S.? And were you in agriculture all that time?

    Mugabe/Zimbabwe

The thing that baffles me is how an unpopular dictator who causes as much grief as Mugabe has can escape assassination as long as he has.

    One terrific movie

Hanky movies, eh? I take it you gals aren't into Bruce Willis movies so much, then? How about one of his oldies "Ransom"? Anybody seen it? It is a good lesson on not giving in to common opinion. Of course not that some of us would need lessons on that . . . . .

I thought your reply was really cheeky too, there buddy. Soapweed, your turn. If the cat gave a muffled meow, what did the puppy doo, doo, doo? :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

A shadow of a man that he once was

All I can say is that I am hugely impressed with the ways you folks have acted out your compassion and love for your family members afflicted as they are/were. fedup, that poem was surely worth posting. And your responses toward your uncle and aunt were simply inspired. Although it made me kinda...

I am sorry Shelly. At times, there is no answer for human suffering.
