For Those In Western South Dakota

In 2002 our neighborhood had 25,000 acres burn mostly in the pine trees. Soo now there is dry pine wood to burn at our next fire. You have my best wishes for a hard rain along with all that dry lightening. May the rain gods give you something you need.

Looks like the whole world is on fire!!

Yes it is going to be a tough late summer and fall, with all these fires everywhere. I got my weed sprayer, 200 G, filled and started (test) yesterday. It seems the whole west is on fire. I finally got my hay picked up and stacked in the stack yards, so it is now insured. We've only had one...

    Brothers?

Mom shot one years ago and put it in the freezer. After the first course of inside cooked wild pig, Dad made her cook it outside. All for a very good reason.

    Cutting Studs

Yes that is exactly right, in the northern states. No flies and they don't bleed as much when it is cool. Horse raddish gets to hot to eat when it warms up. Thanks for the post.

    Ranches

This place was first surveyed in 1882 or 86, the surveyor ‘Spellman’ located the section line as 30 paces West of the residence, and that they were building a new home. Their residence was the West end of a log barn, part of which still is standing in 2006. The two residents were brothers by...

    Another Tax Scheme

Estate Taxes, the State of Wyoming variety is my subject. When I went thru the process many years ago, we had the opportunity :? to take the three lowest cost land deals (current) that were in our immediate area, in which to average the Wyo state tax upon. I am not currently up to date on that...

    Weather Update, 11:06 MDT

'Snain'....here in WYO we call that 'Snert' cross between snow and dirt :D We had buckets of rain, snow the size of quarters, more rain and 50 mph wind. :?

    How many?

Well I did it when I was dead broke...now not so broke, its better! Age will be my limiting factor, not try. I love the cow/calf business, wouldn't do anything else, for any amount of money. :D That is just a fact!

    Interesting Lion Info

This man stopped in last Thursday to tell me, that a mountain lion had run accross the road in back of my house. I better tell my dog stompin black cows to look out for him. I also called the county trapper, who said, we'll dog him down, wait for a fresh snow. Yeah, we've had nothing but snow...

    It's our turn

Ditto...the best tasting burger I ever ate was a retired and grass fattened long horn former roping steer. Couldn't believe it, this true! Age of the animal I believe is the answer, as he wasn't a long young'n anymore.

    Sierra Club

Maybe the Native American Indians were't the first men in America, as its possible, they killed the relatives of this 9,000 year old man. The DNA is different than the Indian DNA and they have had a lot of court battles about Kennewick Man and his ancestor's. I just did a search for Kennewick...

    Rabbits!!

:D Yes that goes with the job, that business of feeding salad dressing on the hay bales. However my wabbits have been pruned down in population, as I don't believe its a healthy situation to leave a population uncontrolled. My girls get 'Cow Candy' dropped on top of the unrolled bale.

    Rabbits!!

Wow.. I'm glad I can shoot a gun, mine haven't gotten that bad. But then I work on them a great deal. With the shot shell, one just points it in the general direction and when they get close to being in the sites, pull the trigger. You need to do something quick. Call your game and fish or...

    Welfare?

About 8 % of my ground is BLM ground, which is in scattered forties. It ,of course, is some of the worst land, as it was not homesteaded. I have offered to buy it, no federal funding necessary, but OHH they don't have the time. How about them apples?

Texas Animal Health Commision property registration

TXAG, I think my number is the first or second to be recorded in my county as it is co # and 01 of course the FID # is so long I will never be able to memorize it. Our date for compliance has not been determined, as of yet. That is to the best of my knowledge. About the cost, I think you better...

    Rabbits!!

I have shot around 150, I lost count, this winter. Mostly I use a 22 LR with bird shot in it. When they get wild, from my mis-shots, I use regular ammunition. I always keep some hay around the house for quick feeding and those little rascals like it for sure.

    Terrible Day!!!

I've lost one to that foul disorder. Not pleasant...I sympathize! If one operates then they get (parenitise ?) gut bugs that do them in.
