    farmall 95

Put 1800 hrs. on one with a loader. It is an economy tractor, mechanical shuttle, dry clutch. Had good luck with mine, only replaced a leaking fuel pump. More of a hobby farmer tractor. Light weight tractor, you'll need weights or fluid in the tires to handle round bales. Traded mine for a...

How many cows does it take

AngusCowboy- sounds like a plan. Not much you can do in Feb. and March so why not calve. When you sell those steers the 1st of Jan for $1300.00 you can smile all the way to the bank.

I do the same but like to keep the loop and half hitch on the under side of the leg. As you pull down it puts even less stress on the legs.

    Changing calving seasons

One reason no one goes from May calving back to Feb. calving is the fact it's harder to shorten your calving interval. Moving your start calving date ahead one month is hard to do.

    Changing calving seasons

A few years ago I bought a small ranch from an elderly gentleman. He asked if I wanted to buy his cow herd as well . I asked when they started to calve...he said he never pulled the bulls. That way he could take a pickup load of calves to town anytime he needed a calf check.

    Changing calving seasons

I sold my Feb-March calves the end of January for $1050-$1100 per head. Not bad return on labor...getting a little tired of puttering in the shop all winter anyway, so looking forward to checking cows.

Nylon ropes, even an extra soft don't close fast enough. Get a poly.

Back in the days of all the exotics, a neighbor asked what I thought of those " pin scours" I replied that my calves get just the regular scours. :D

Tagging Calves & a Bad Wreck

Simple solution is to use a neck rope on your horse like the kind calf ropers use. It will always make your horse face what is roped.
