Though I should see where the boys were given the nasty weather. They don't seem so concerned.

thats about what it has looked like around here the last couple days. still chilly today, but the wind went down and the sun is out :D

That is about what it looks like here at this moment. i talked to our vet who was traveling from Edmonton to Vermillion this morning, he thought he would get to his destination but was wondering if he would be able to get home tonight.

We missed most of what hit SE Sask earlier in the week I hope we miss what's to hit SW Sask tonight and tomorrow. :-)

Talked to the daughter near Red Deer and they had quite a blizzard today.

Thats no place for a Texan, makes me cold just lookin at it,I suspect it leaves the country side pretty after it blows thru and provides moisture for next years grass...........so not all bad.
good luck

Weather boys are saying a 20% chance of snow tonight-- and 40% tomorrow and tomorrow night with less than an inch accumulation--BUT 10-20 mph winds and windchill of -15 to -20..

A lot better forecast than the western part of the state- that is 100% chance of snow- 20 to 30 mph winds- and up to a foot or more of snow.....

I could just see Haymakers country getting a foot of snow  :???:

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM MST SUNDAY.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ALONG THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN FRONT AND
CANADIAN BORDER THIS EVENING AND SPREAD SOUTHWARD OVER NORTH
CENTRAL AND CENTRAL MONTANA OVERNIGHT. PERIODS OF SNOW...POSSIBLY
MODERATE TO HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY INTO
SATURDAY NIGHT. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 10 INCHES ARE
POSSIBLE OVER THE PLAINS...WITH 12 TO 20 INCHES POSSIBLE IN THE
MOUNTAINS. IN ADDITION...NORTH WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS
TO 35 MPH WILL CAUSE WIND CHILLS AS LOW AS 25 DEGREES BELOW ZERO.
AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW WILL ALSO REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN
ONE QUARTER MILE AT TIMES...CREATING DANGEROUS TRAVEL
CONDITIONS WITH SLIPPERY ROADWAYS

We had snow starting at around 7 this morn and then the wind picked up to make beautiful snow drifts everywhere. I am sure glad it was only -5 as I would hate to see how cold it would feel with the winds and -20 or 30. I am staying put even though I should be at the wish list sale this weekend. I picked up my grass fed steer yesterday as I heard the crappy forecast for today. I still have to try him though. He does look quite good , really marbled well . He is pinker than what we are used to so he must have not have been hung as long because of the lesser fat cover .

Stay warm and drive safe.

Per, I wish we had your grass even in this crappy weather. We didn`t see grass like that all year even on places that were not grazed until the fall..

That reminds me of about 30 years ago....Morning started out beautiful- but by noon an unpredicted winter blizzard had hit...About 4PM a New York fellow reported that he had taken his buddy- a biologist- out to the Missouri River Breaks to study eagles- and when he went back at noon to get him he couldn't find him and now he couldn't get out on the road to even look for him because of the drifts....And as usual he wasn't dressed for bad weather...

So we lined up the old county Osh Kosh V plow to go ahead and bust drifts- and took a couple of the Sheriff's Depts 4 wheel drives and headed out thru the blizzard looking for him...About 20 miles out we met an old local rancher and his wife- that lived about 30 miles south-heading for town plowing thru the drifts...It was Friday night and they weren't going to miss the weekend doings and Bingo at the Stockman Bar  ...
Long story short- we found the biologist (who spotted our flashing lights thru a let up in the storm and found the road which we found him walking down on our return pass)-- and when we got back to town I checked to make sure- and found old Marcus and Irenes pickup parked behind the water hole...
Tough old cuss that lived his entire life in those breaks and he wasn't going to let no little winter storm keep him from his only entertainment...

In '91 I was unable to get home from a cow sale because of a freak 24 hr. 4 ft. storm. I ended up staying 2 days in Town with a couple of the old time ranchers in this area. One of them, Ollie Knoll, had a brother (Both of them are passed on now) who liked to drink more than a little. When I was fretting about getting home and how the wife was managing, (we had no phone back in the "old days" :D ) Ollie said that his brother Max always said it was better to be snowed out than snowed in. :D

-31 C here this morning.

Well that's almost enough to make your nostrils slam shut and stay there on the first sniff outside :D
Pretty mild up here right now, about -16C. I understand some cool weather is coming though.

Still blizzarding here. Just about to go out and check the state of affairs. Last night we came home from hockey in near zero. Had one kid with her head out the window spotting the edge and me out the other. Half way home I thought I should get the ice off the window wiper. By the time I was done it busted off in my hand so we went the rest of the way wiping the windshield with my hand out the window. Kids should be able to embellish that story by the time they have kids. :-) I'll take my camera a shoot some photo's if there is anything to see.
