Does anybody know of any bad fires going on up in Canada- or the western states mountains...

This old river bottom today is so hazy you can't even see up the creek... Makes your eyes burn after being out in it for awhile...

Must be a just right air inversion bringing it in- as I know of no local fires...Wind has been out of the NNW...

There are quite a few fires west of the Fraser in the Chilcotin OT. They total an area larger than 80,000 acres and are still expanding. Several areas on evacuation order.
We had quite a thunderstorm through here last night, first real rain this summer. Looks like it put out the fire closest to us and haven't heard of any new ones in our vicinity. We counted 162 lightning flashes between 7:00 and 10:00 last night.
It is so dry here.........

There are over 400 fires burning in BC as of this evening's news.

I was wondering today how you were making out with the fires down there today gcreek. I hear a lot of people have been evacuated in the Williams Lake area. I heard those thunderstorms started a lot of new fires. Good for you for finally getting some moisture.

Might be where its coming from.. A good little breeze came up this afternoon and cleared it up some...

Here is the BC wildfire site. (Wildfires of note)

I can see the Binta Lake and Llgitiyuz Mountain fires from my place.

We were evacuated from the Meldrum area four days ago. Fire is 15 000 hectares and still growing. The fire crews took us up to our place in a chopper to check on the house and cattle this morning. I thought that was mighty nice of them. :D
Looks like we're going to be out for a while. I wish all the ranchers good luck.

Welcome to ranchers! Sorry to hear about the fires in your country. We lost our whole mountain in 1994. It was pretty tough to see and experience. But the grass has come back. Hope all works out for ya'll and Gcreek! And the rest of you British Columbians!

As yet we have no fires close to us but visibility is less than 1/2 mile this evening from smoke. I think it is from the Pelican Lake fire.

Welcome jillaroo, it will soon come to me who you are. :D

Looks like it is coming from up north way according to the weatherboys today.. Not bad here today- now that the clouds are clearing out...

.SHORT TERM...FOR NORTHEAST MONTANA...TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY...

NO CHANGES MADE TO TODAYS GRIDS. AGAIN...FORECAST LOOKS TO BE ON
TRACK. SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS A DIFFUSE SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WITH
LIGHT AND VARIABLE WINDS. UPPER LEVEL RIDGE IS BEGINNING TO
AMPLIFY OVER MONTANA. AS MID LEVEL CLOUDS DISSIPATE THIS
MORNING...VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY REVEALS A BROAD NW TO SE SWATH
OF SMOKE AND HAZE FROM CENTRAL ALBERTA
DOWN INTO THE DAKOTAS AND
MINNESOTA. THE SMOKE IS NOT EXPECTED TO GREATLY IMPACT THE
EXPECTED SUNNY SKIES TODAY. REGIONAL RADAR IMAGERY SHOWING CLEAR
AIR RETURNS ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA.

welcome jillaroo, the smoke from the fires is really thick in the 150 mile rose lake area visability was less than a 1/4 mile at 7;30 tonite. have they attempted to move any livestock from the area?

thanks for the welcomes. We were not able to move our cattle; only open the gates on range and hope for the best. There really was no time as we were evacuated at 4am and we were just trying to get our horses and dogs to safety. We were in a hotel for a week and now are allowed back home. The whole area is still on evac alert though.
