I just learned that one of my friends, Kennny & his family suffered a horrible tragedy this weekend. Their two daughters age 4 & 7 were killed when the ATV they were riding overturned in a stream. One was pinned under the bike and drowned. The other died later in the hospital from massive head trauma.

I hope something positive can from an event such as this. Maybe sharing this will remind you good folks here to be extra careful with your ATVs & teach your kids how to ride safe.

Please keep these folks in your prayers.

Most full size quads are impossible for a kid to ride safely-we just lost a 13 year old boy to one up here-they make them too big and too fast for the most part. They are a handy ranch tool to be sure but I just bring myself to get one. We use them guiding I know how quick you can get in a wreck on one-I'm far from a daredevil.

Soory for their loss......BUT....a 4 and 7 yr old have NO BUSINESS being on a 4 wheeler alone.

They are too big and too powerful and kids that age are not stong enough to handle that.

It's a sad sad deal....but someone should've known better

What a sad deal! Our thoughts and prayers sure go out to the family.

I have an 8 and a 4 year old and they are both learning to ride our Honda Rancher. Every child has different abilities and needs help to learn how to be safe in any circumstance. My 8 year old is a great driver and knows exactly what she's doing, so don't say they have no business riding a wheeler! Accidents happen and I send my best to your friends triangle bar!

They don't not letting this one go. Not going to argue for ten pages about it either. I just hope nobody goes through what these two families have to. When they make quads half as heavy and governed out at about 20 mph that would be better still not good. Done with this now!!!

Sending prayers to the families.
Clayton lost 2 boys right before school started .....they were on atvs and were 16.
Sending prayers to all who have children and young adults.....

Sending prayers to those who feel this is the time and place to place blame and add to the grief......

Oh my my prayers go out I hate to hear about young kids in a tradgey

Not only kids. Our local dozer man (66 years old) was killed last week riding atv. His grandson was giving him a fast ride he took a conor to sharp and hit grandpas head on a post.

Triangle Bar.....so sorry for your news, and as I have 2 those exact ages, they will get extra hugs tonight :( please let your friends know they are thought of with extra prayers. This is a poem that hopefully will bring a little comfort perhaps....

I will lend you, for a little time,
A child of mine, He said.
For you to love the while he lives,
And mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care of him for Me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief.
You'll have his lovely memories,
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over,
In search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labour vain.
Nor hate me when I come
To take him home again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
'Dear Lord, Thy will be done!'
For all the joys Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him,
Much sooner than we've planned.
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.

Such a very sad, and common, tragedy....my condolences to the family, they will be in our thoughts and prayers...I have a 3 yr old that loves to ride the 4 wheeler with grandma and grandpa. Its the life of a farm/ranch kid....something just as bad coulda happened horseback, or otherwise....we had a young man in this area going to drop his 5 mo old at daycare, never did this before so it was out of his routine....he drove past daycare, unintentionally and straight to the field, was 95 degrees that day and they found the infant boy yet in its carseat at noon. Be care of habit...it can get ya in trouble too!

THIS IS JUST ONE OF THOSE TRAGEDIES THAT WILL TOUCH A NERVE (AND PULL AT THE HEARTSTRINGS) OF ANYONE READING!! MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY!!! I SEE MY BOYS (AGES 14 AND 11) RIDE THEIR DAD'S 4-WHEELERS FROM TIME TO TIME AND OFTEN CATCH MY BREATH.......
