The wind (60mph) came up 4ish or so and the fire started jumping a quarter to half mile at a time. Burned the Flying W ranch and several homes, no way to count them yet. Large sections on NW Co Springs are evacuated, and the residential areas on the US Air Force Academy. This is the worst tragedy I have ever witnessed this close. I hope 50 miles of desert is more than it can jump! Some thunder showers are in the forecast, but they have potential to do more harm than good with outlying wind or dry strikes. I hope when daylight comes, and head counts are made that no lives have been lost. I don't see how the firefighters could outrun that fire. There were no roads running with the fire, only across it.
