Colorado Fires

The wind (60mph) came up 4ish or so and the fire started jumping a quarter to half mile at a time. Burned the Flying W ranch and several homes, no way to count them yet. Large sections on NW Co Springs are evacuated, and the residential areas on the US Air Force Academy. This is the worst tragedy I have ever witnessed this close. I hope 50 miles of desert is more than it can jump! Some thunder showers are in the forecast, but they have potential to do more harm than good with outlying wind or dry strikes. I hope when daylight comes, and head counts are made that no lives have been lost. I don't see how the firefighters could outrun that fire. There were no roads running with the fire, only across it.

The Wilson and Wolfe familys were close friend of my parents, and I join them in asking for prayers and guidance for the affected families.

Who cares if they are old pictures Katrina, still great pictures.

The deer one is from yellowstone fire, they were trying to pass that off as a picture from the High Park fire near Fort Collins. The second one I don't think is in Colorado maybe the fire by Boulder the other ones are from the fire near Colorado Springs, great pictures.

Yes you're right... But I didn't know yellowstone was in Colorado since the post is colorado fires.... I was just keeping a little integrity that's all..... :tiphat:

The Last Chance fire was a big one - 45,000 acres +-. Many friends and neighbors lost all or a huge chunk of grass. Most of it was grassland, some farmgound on the north end. It went 15 miles north from the start of the fire and spread east and west varying amounts. It missed our most western edge by about 8 miles. Many of our bull customers were nearly wiped out. It is a very sad deal, lots of good people lost a lot. I don't know if any cattle were lost, but no people, so that is good. Pretty bleak situation in this part of the world.

Did they finally get it out? Isn't there a low level Nuclear waste dump west of Last Chance 8 or so miles? Its been YEARS since I spent much time out there. Moved out of Limon six months after the tornado.
