Comments on bull EPD's

doc run this bull and tell me what you think of his e.p.d.s i dont have pictures as of yet. But thought you might be able to tell me if he is at least bred right?
Thanks
shorthorn - Yes - he is definitely bred right! In My Opinion - His accuracies are low because he is only 18 months old - (.05) but , of course, that will change once he has enough calves for evaluation.

His production EPD's are - okay. BW 2.3 - WW 43 - YW 83 - Milk 27 is a little higher than I like because I feel that the Angus breed is getting almost TOO much elevated milk EPD's. After all, these EPD's represent either Greater or Lesser than the breed AVERAGE. That is AVERAGE! Where do we reach a point where MORE AND MORE is BETTER? EPD's and the use thereof is just like Phenotype and Production records of Dams - they are TOOLS and not the 'Ultimate' DO EVERYTHING answer to all of our breeding problems. They must be used judiciously to approach the optimum results. (oh oh - here I go again!)

This Bull's Scrotal EPD is -.07 and I don't like to see Negative anything in this trait.

Carcass Traits are very acceptible, particularly RE (+.47) but, again, the accuracy of .05 is Interim only. Ultrasound Expectations are good - %IMF +.20 - RE +.55 - %RP +.50. The $Values are High Average.

I will PM you a copy of the Breed Pedigree Print-out. This is a well-bred Angus Bull for today's thinking. If you are thinking of this bull for a cross breeding program he is great. Are you thinking of purchasing him or useing him for AI? Will his calves be Replacement Heifers or Terminal?

I'll send his Pedigree as soon as I can. I am late for an appointment right now.
