Calving is slowing down, and the weather improved this past week. Jim opened the road up so that we could bring our new bulls home... haven't gone this route since October  :-) .

New bulls enjoying the 24 hours of dry ground prior to the next snowstorm.

Yearling heifers and remaining heavy cows. The calves really picked up once we started sorted heavy cows off, and they no longer had to compete for the hay :D .

Calved out cows enjoying the trees again :D .

Yesterday I took advantage of good weather to give the heifers their first pre-breeding shot.

I also tucked the pairs into shelter yesterday afternoon since snow was on the way.

Snowed about 5 inches overnight.

WOW thats alot of snow.
Calves are looking good.
We are getting snow right now should end up with about 4 inches......shoer had to leave early because of the weather

I agree, things are looking good in your part of the world. I sure like looking at your rocky scenery.
Our nice dry calving grounds have now been covered with wet snow and overnight temps have been dropping down to -20C...... so I guess it's not really spring here yet :?

Good lookin critters...despite the crappy weather you've had, they sure look healthy. We too had 2 nice days this week..then winter just had to show us that it's not done yet...turned cold and windy..but fortunatly no snow. I think every calf was stretched out soaking up the sunshine while it lasted...lol

i've thought this before....if you took away the rocks and the trees from your country, your photos look alot lke Soapweeds. (or Soaps look like yours  ) - no matter the conditions, your cattle always look in tip top shape. i' have to be a little selective on which ones i dare show a pic of. :?

great pictures as always, i'll be waiting for more :D

Nice Pics-- What does it take to get "red tagged" so early in life?...Couple of them poor little fellas gonna grow up with a minority inferiority complex  :P

Those red tags are my personal cattle. It's actually the kiss of death, since if anything gets sick or dies, it's usually mine  . I told Jim he must be happy to have my herd around to absorb the majority of losses. They do come in handy during tax time though  :D .
