One of the problems with Facebook- is there are virus and trojans and all kinds of bad things running wild on it....It might look like and say its a message from a friend, with a home video-or a good youtube site- but when you open it- it infects your computer and then generates messages that look like they come from you to drag in more folks...Once they get a bite into somebodies computer they go zippo thru a whole bunch...
I'm on my wifes laptop today- because mine is down because of another virus- and I've talked to several that have had the same problem...

The one hitting a bunch of computers right now is a scam that tells you your computer is infected- and you have to buy their Spyware for $49.95 with the credit card- or it eventually shuts down your computer...

And I had all kinds of Spyware- Virus Blockers etal- but I'm having to have the computer guy clean things up again- and hopefully he can get it..
Sorry but that is not from facebook its from photbucket. I know about 6 others who had the same thing. Including shoer...now to get him sitting long enough to get his computer cleaned up.
If you dont want to pay for norton get the AVG free and its just as good and blocks most crap that is out there.

It might be photobucket doing it- but it was Facebook generating and passing the virus the first time around...Message sent to me by my old partner- "that said this is a good site"- and then directed me to a Facebook link of someone called Sponge Bob- and my computer then went nuts...My old partner said he never sent the message- but it then generated all kinds of Facebook messages to his other friends- my friends- his kids, etc. etc.-- and kept on going- infecting every computer it touched....His kids were ready to kill him as it cost them $200 to get their computer cleaned up....I've talked to several that got it off false Facebook messages and links..

This time around I think Leaning H is right- it was Photobucket- as that is where I was working ....And we had Norman- which is supposed to be better than Norton...
Just talked to the computer guy- and he said this time around they are going to have to erase everything- and start over...

I've used Norton for probably 6 years and never had a problem. But I'm hardly ever online.

there are good and bad aspects to it. like anything.

also with high school kids, it is a way to keep an extra eye on what is happening!

I got on it to keep track of all my "kids"..HS & college...I've had to have private chats with some of the HS kids..they put way to much information on there at times I think...It's been the best to keep up with family pictures and my friends...Ok..I have to admit..I do farmtown..lol Thats the only one though...lol I think as alot of folks do..it's a good site to keep in touch, but can also be very annoying when people post stupid stuff...guess that's life though...

I ran Norton for years also..then upgraded to Norton 2010..what a mistake...got a trojan virus from another website and Norton locked me up big time...still not running right, but I delelted Norton and got AVG for now..and since then even this Ranchers site is working better..don't have near the problems logging in and once again I'm getting email alerts...so no more Norton for me...I've never gotten a virus off of Facebook yet..!

I have a personal and a business account. The business one is used as a daily journal for our website. Even though I don't quite keep up with it daily, it does seem to work quite well. Check it out sometime.

I had always heard bad things about Norton, then these 2 different
computer guys (one built my computer--what a relief to talk to him
in SD instead of in some far away place that the person I get on
the phone I can't understand...whew) told me to get Norton 2010.
I questioned them both about it and they both recommended it.
Now I don't know what to do...
