Good one OT!!

Ranchers raise "Ruminants" (cattle, sheep, goats, etc.), primarily, and the CROPS with which Ruminants are fed.
Farmers raise "Crops" (Hay, grain, ,etc), primarily, to which Ruminants are fed, AND they MAY also raise NON-Ruminants (Swine, poultry, fish, etc.) and the CROPS with which NON-Ruminants are fed - AND the "Crops" with which HUMAN BEINGS (Men, women, children, and, occasionally, Politicians) are fed.
Some RANCHERS are Ranchers AND Farmers.
Some FARMERS are Farmers AND Ranchers.
Unfortunately - some RANCHERS and FARMERS are NEITHER Ranchers NOR farmers!

So what does that make us folks??? :???: We raise cattle (buy, background, and sell feeders, more-like) and grow crops that are primarily for livestock consumption, but lately we've been growing a number of acres for human consumption too (if you can call growing canola growing for human consumption)...answers please....

DJL said:Cowgirl2u, you also don't have the winters we northerners do. Our crop is grass, and we harvest it with cattle, but grass fails to grow in frozen ground under a foot of snow and -30 temperatures. Hay is required whether we grow it on our land, or it grows on trucks that roll into your yard - either way we gotta have it.
8) Too true, walkin' down beach at Sylvan lake 2 yr's ago and LITTLE girl asked me if I was a real cowboy.Didn't have an answer and has kept me up some nights thinking of what answer should be!Jinglebob said:What does it say on your income tax form, under occupation?
