Not the best, the camera I had back then (85) wasn't the best, and time certainly didn't help the pic......but here's Beau. Got him as a pup from a neighboring rancher, he was half pit and half red heeler, and a darn good cowdog.
Just had a little too much "pit" in him, and kept tangling with porcupines.....last time he had so many quills in his nose, eyes, mouth, down his throat, that dad had to shoot him. I was glad that I'd married and left home by then.
Beau will always hold a special place in my heart, though.
The horse with him was my mare, Soxin, that I raised from a baby.....she's long gone, too. The picture was taken at my aunt and uncle's corral, just down the creek from where I grew up. My uncle built the corral and barn there, when they homesteaded the place back in the early 1920s. Not sure if you wanted the whole "low-down" or not, but ya got it anyway!
