I have seen horses eat Mock Oranges. They are hard as a rock but a horse can bite one in two.
 
Mock Oranges or Horse Apples as some call them will keep the roaches away too!

Slice and lay them outside around the house.
 
We call then hedge apples or Oshage oranges :? - - - either way the cattle and horses both love them :) :) - - -the cattle have to let them lay a couple of extra days to soften. :eek:

Grandma always sliced them and put them in the basement to keep all insects and spiders away :? . - - - I'm not sure how good it worked but never question Grandma!!!! :D :D :D
