I sure enjoyed Faster Horses (slower ponies!,  ) pictures of their trip to Alaska (Posted in Coffee Shop). They rekindled many memories for me as I had driven truck up there for a few years in the early 70's. I will share a memory of one of my experiences, and a lesson I learned from it. I was traveling to Anchorage from Kenai. I had been traveling some road that had snow pack, but well sanded and cold. My jake brake was on, and had created no problems. When I started to drop off the top of Johnson Pass to the Turnigan Arm, I was traveling quite slowly, but reached some fresh snow over the ice, as well as a temperature inversion. As I backed off the throttle, I had forgotten the jake was on, and it killed the motor immediately. The tractor wheels locked up, and the trailer began to come around the tractor. My mental lapse had gotten me into a serious predicament. Before I could even hit the starter, I said "God, help me." It was a prayer, and answered as quickly as uttered. The motor came to life, and I pulled out of the jack-knife. I've often thought of that prayer; it was anything but eloquent! I did not begin with "Dear Heavenly Father" nor end it with "in Jesus Name I pray." I did not even explain my situation to God, nor offer any solutions I felt would work. My head was not bowed, nor my eyes closed. I had a need created by my own poor judgment, and in deep sincerity, I simply pleaded with God (a short simple prayer that changed my life) to help me, and He did….no strings attached. Pretty neat, huh? There is no limit to the grace of God. Well have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and don't hesitate to call on God to meet your needs.
