MAD COW CONFIRMED ALABAMA

Yes I just heard that, wonder if we can trace it back to canada,I have a feelin it come outa the saskatchewan area, hope she did,nt lose her tag...............good luck

Ideally, this cow will be traced back to canada, remember the market is here in the good ole USA,we dont need anything erodeing consumer confidence.
Would'nt hurt my feelings if every BSE case was traced to canada,OTM cattle cant cross the border in the near future anyway and canada is selling all the beef they want in boxes or UTM's why ruin the market, let canada do something good for their neighbor for once  ............good luck

Come on Mike. It's your state. Find out the deal for us. Did she originate in Alabama? Chicken farm? You know all them in the pits knew it was a positive, why wasn't the board down?

I ain't heard nothing. I'll call some friends of mine in Auburn in a couple of days when the smoke clears. Might ease down to the stockyard tommorrow and see what happens.

You can't keep a secret in Alabama.........Somebody knows the scoop.

Sure Haymaker, we'll claim it. R-Calf will blame us for it anyway, and OT will just turn this around as another reason to close the border to us Canadians. And I've allways felt it better to be hung for a sheep than a lamb anyway.

I "heard" that this cow originally came from North East Montana(on the border) and was infected with BSE by sniffing the farts of Canadian cattle from just across the fence.
An absolutely possible route of transmission, according to some "experts". :D :D :D :D

Seriously, this is not good for anyone. But it does tend to show that the surveilance program is working and transparent.
Hopefully the markets and the media will act responsibly.

:? :(

I have started asking around, but no one knows anything yet except that it was a beef cow. No word yet on age of where it was born.

She is over 10 years of age and had only been on the actual place for one year.

Man, this is exciting! They are having a news conference on TV as we speak.

I bet the word "Firewall" has been used 10,000 times.

Add: The cow was a downer on the farm. The owner called a local vet and he took a sample. The cow was buried on the farm.

Guess what! She didn't enter the food chain.
