I recently bought a new pair of Ariat boots. I've had two pair before these and I've really liked them. They've always been very comfortable and for the money I've been very happy. Well, this pair is just a little too small for me. I've worn them for about four days and I've had to admit to myself that this fact isn't going to change. Now I'm mad at myself because I had a sneaking suspicion that they were a bit snug when I made the purchase. I knew I should be looking at a half size larger. I hate to part with hard-earned money, but my bride tells me life is too short to wear ill-fitting boots. So I'm not going to wear them anymore and I've wasted $160.00. Since I've worn them around for a few days and they're not brand new anymore I sure won't try to take them back to the store. It's really not their problem at this point.

I feel better just getting this off my chest this morning. And...if anyone wears a size 11D, just send me a PM. Might be a deal.

I'd be interested in what kind of slip-on boots other folks have liked. I'm not into spending big bucks and I already have a pair of boots for working outdoors. Looking for something sharp-looking, comfortable and won't break the bank. Don't need any exotic hide or fancy stuff. I guess I'll do a search for previous threads. I was thinking that those Boulets looked interesting. Don't know about the price.

Did I mention that I have a pair of 11D Ariats???

I've had good luck with Ariat boots. I just ordered a pair of Tony Lama with TLX soles, we'll see how they are when I get them. Not many good places for western wear around here, need to do mail order for the good stuff.

Just picked up a pair of Wolverine boots with the Dura shock soles. I really like them. I do have a pair of slip on Ariats, but they slide off in mud. :D
The new ones are lace up ones.
Sorry I wear a size 8. Hubby picks his own boots.

You can get a good price on Double H's at www.sierratradingpost.com
Click on men's western footwear and browse. I've had 2 or 3 pair of Double H's now and they are a good boot for the money. Olathe's are good 'uns, and I still have my 2 pair of Paul Bond's and 2 pair of Blucher's from my single days.

ever since i bought my first pair of boulet boots - i won't buy another. reasonably priced, built well and comfy and nice looking... just need to get out of the habit of wearing them as muck boots

I wear my Boulet's all summer, they get used kind of like my 4 wheeler. Most of them are good boots but the best are bull-hide leather that are tanned in a manner that makes them soft and pliable. The last few pairs I have owned lasted to where they would have needed the third resoling.

I can't/won't wear runners, work boots are too heavy and gumboots just don't look flashy enough on the dance floor. :D

I think you will find the right Boulets well worth the money.

How are the factory leather soles on the Boulets? I can't believe how fast the original soles wear out on most boots.

About the same as any other, I prefer the Neopreme(sp) soles. They last three times longer for the same money. As for those spongy soles, my feet are big enough already, they would be like having snowshoes on.

Have Boulet's got better or are the others just cutting corners & making cheaper boots. Tried Boulets years ago (not the cheapest ones either) and they seemed to disintegrate almost instantly when they got recycled grass on them. Canada West used to make an awesome bullhide roper that just wouldn't wear out but they discontinued the line.........dealers said they lasted too long......not enough sales! :???: Just bought a set of Ariat's.....will see if they can hold up to real world conditions!

I do like the looks of those Wilson boots and I've had several Montanans tell me that they are the only way to go. What worries me is that someone might actually mistake me for a genuine cowboy if I wore those. Then I'm afraid they would figure out that I'm only about half!

Caution: Ariat boots are made in CHINA!!

How I found this out was due to the fact we have bought boots at Brian's Boot and Shoes in Sheridan, Wyoming.
He carries boots that are different than many boot stores. He's the one who told me that he would not, WOULD NOT, sell a boot in his store
that came from China.

Mr. FH likes tall top boots with round toes and a dogger heel. He wears Tony's (but the quality certainly has gone down in those boots); Justin; Hondo and Olathe.

I've tried to get him to wear the square-toed ones but no soap. :P

Weather Hat Co. in Belle Fourche has some Anderson Bean boots that are reasonably priced and look to be very well made.

Here's a link, but the boots that come up first are rather spendy so go to the next page. But I noticed, they all have the new square toe.

I'm such a tight-fisted Dutchman that I've almost changed my mind. Think I'll try wearing these Chinese-made boots  that I've already paid for and see if I can break them in or if they'll break me instead. They're feeling half-way acceptable today.

Next time around I'll try some U.S. or Canadian-made boots and do a little more research to find something I'm more excited about. That will probably be at least three years down the road.

Mike said that Justin work boots are the only ones to buy. I have a pair of those lace-ups and I agree 100% that they are good. They are just about as comfortable as tennis shoes and they last a long time if you keep them oiled when they get dry. I wore them in the feedlot for a long time and that's a tough environment on footwear. Stood on concrete all day at the chute sometimes besides slopping around in that good ol' manure. Feet never hurt and I believe they helped my knees and back to stay in good shape too.

Anyway, that's probably plenty of rambling on about my footwear.
