New Bull

It certainly doesn't bother me within reason. We all buy semen or bulls from time to time. It's nice to know a resource. Just don't wear out the opportunity. Nice stock by the way. It's also nice to see what others are doing.

That's just my opinion. I think the official policy is no advertising. I don't find a conversation about bulls and you posting yours and saying you have semen for sale is advertising. If you posted your bull with semen for sale on every page with the price, etc. would be different. I sure enjoied seeing your pictures. I imagine everyone did. Thanks for posting them.

Hey NR give us some details on your Hereford bull. Since we asked it is really not advertizing. Is this a Fraser bull you mentioned earlier?

How soon do you need it-I'll be putting up exportable semen on him-the reason I bought him was the A.I. studs don't have a calving ease cowmaker type of Horned Hereford bull.

I would be breeding them about June 10th or a little before...

I had computer troubles so just got back on-I kind of custom designed this one-I sold Murray all the 552 semen up here with the deal that he'd use it on his best 8020 daughters or grandaughters. This bull is a CJH L1 Domino 552 son out of an OXH Domino 8020 granddaughter. She is a real good Hereford cow-grazes out till calving in midmarch and comes in with good flesh. Perfect feet and udder. I used this calf A'I last year as did Fraser's and their first calves off him are in the low 80's. I've looked at alot of Hereford cattle in my travels and Fraser's are by far the most practical run purebred herd I've seen in any breed. I think he'll make some real useful baldy cows-I know alot of Angus heifers will be seeing him this spring.

Here he is-he bred 80 cows with another yearling last summer then ran out till midDecember so he's not packing much rig which I don't mind at all. He never got ultasounded as a yearling so I won't get carcass data on him till some calves get finished-I'm not too concerned about that to be honest-his job is making black baldy cows as far as I'm concerned. The 8020 bull on his mothers side was a trait leader for most of the carcass traits if I remember right.

NR - I thought you Canadian guys didn't use American cattle  . 8020 is a 10 trait leader including marbling but not REA. 8020 is the maternal grandsire to my 9806 herd bull I posted on here the other day. So when is the border going to be open for breeding cattle anyhow. I had a bull bought the month before the border initially closed and we never got him down here before it closed. I've been waiting for it to open ever since.

passin thru - The top two pictures are of:

WB Bear Mark ET 35N - Sired by Jarman Herefords JH Mark 9454 ET and his mother is a HLAH 90Z Mark Donald 10B daughter (the old "Bear" bull). 35N is a line bred Mark Donald.

Here is a link to 35N:

The second bull pictured is my favorite and main herd bull. He has been on the AHA proven sires list for 2 years and is a trait leader for maternal calving ease, scrotal, and just fell off for REA when the AHA adjusted their EPD's. I got more of his daughters in my purebred herd than any other sire - he has done a real good job for me. H was sired by Fenton's 27A bull and his mother was a direct daughter of 8020 (exceptional cow).

THe bottom bull is a home builder son out of a canadian - line one cross cow. Real easy calving, daughters are perfect frame and condition, neat udders and wean just as good of calves.

Here is a link to 10J - if you go to his link it says he is owned by gundersons. I bought the bull from gunderson and we never got him transfered. I sold him last fall.

NR thanks for the picture. He looks good. He will last a lot longer if you don't let him get butterball fat.

I was wondering what his maternal grandsire is if he is out of an 8020 grandaughter?

Really nice looking bulls everyone. NR what are the epds on your bull? (Don't tell Soapweed I asked  ) Do Fraziers have a website?

Hereford 76 I'm a commercial rancher so I can use any dang bull I like-in fact I bought all the 8020 semen available up here last spring-if the Calgary mafia aren't smart enough to use him that's their problem lol. His maternal grandsire is SNS Centennial-he was a little bigger bull than I like but he's far enough back it shouldn't hurt much-his mother's sire was 101F-Douglas Lake ranch spent the most money in their historyon 101F-Stan Jacobs said he was what he always thought a Hereford bull should look like-101F was sired by 8020 on an Andy daughter. The new bulls E.P.D's are BW-2.7, WW-37.5, YW-64.3, Milk-14.8, TM-33.6. I'm almost certain his birth e.p.d's going to drop after a couple calf crops. Fraser's don't have a website-they really are more like good commercial cowmen who happen to raise purebreds-their sale catalogue even just has the bulls names and performance data-no pictures, testimonials or solioquays lol. They prefer to let their cattle speak for them-Murray's phone number is 403 787-2341 if you want to ask him anything.

I wish everyone felt as you do. I think the cattlemen from both sides of the border can benefit from eachother's genetics. It usually turn me off when a "purebred" breeder won't even look at something because it isn't straight canadian or straight L1 or straight polled. I would be interested in seeing your cattle and/or Fraziers. I describe my operation the same way - a commercial operation trying to make the best cows I can with some bulls to sell as a byproduct. I always liked 8020 - my only complaint with him is that his daughters get huge - but they do produce. I bought a son of Centennial several years ago from Cam McKenzie and he did me a good job. Left real broody cows with nice udders and rich milk.

Do you know Doug & Keith Casey up there. We bought a "Rambo" son out of Bar Pipe's sale in 89 that was sired by Casey's Rambo bull (Andy son) Probably one of the best bulls I ever owned. Sure did like that old Andy bull. Bought another andy son from anderson's in sask. Sure made nice cows.

Do you know the Westerlunds. I used a bull with some of their breeding. He didn't quite do everything I had hoped - but did get some decent cows out of him.

if the Calgary mafia aren't smart enough to use him that's their problem lol.

Thats funny. It's the same no matter where you go.
