Yep-- Nasty Nasty weather for a few days....Snow- Cold- Wind- Wind Chills- Drifting--All those nasty words are showing up...Tonight and tomorrow's forecast doesn't look nice for man or beast.....

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF NORTHEAST
MONTANA UNTIL 8 PM THURSDAY EVENING. SNOW IS EXPECTED ACROSS
NORTHEAST MONTANA THURSDAY...WITH THE SNOW LIKELY TAPERING OFF
FROM NORTH TO SOUTH DURING THE AFTERNOON. NORTHWEST WINDS OF 25
TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH
WILL PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW WITH POOR VISIBILITIES.
IN ADDITION...THE STRONG
WIND WILL COMBINE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO PRODUCE WIND CHILLS OF
20 TO 35 BELOW ZERO.

We are suppossedly going to have near zero temps around here this weekend and Monday and Tuesday... -10 or something for a low...

This week is the week I started calving the last 4 years so I gotta say, it is holding true to form. We have actually been pretty consistantly cold here for the past couple weeks.. Nothing mind numbing or anyhting but we tend to just bounce all over the place in a normal year.. 3 or 4 days of sub 20 weather followed by 3 days of 40 degree stuff to aveage out around 27 or 28 this time of year.. Have to say, at least the mud is frozen rock hard now.

Calving now. Its every 3 hour checks till the cold snaps over. I always jump the gun in April when I see a cow heat up and I have a tank full of semen. Just can resist. Then comes January.............

So far we lucked out and the weather boys missed it :) Only got a skiff of snow and now the sun is shining...But the temps are dropping- was 6 Above at 6AM-now its 1 Below...Wind is out of the NW at about 20mph which is about normal  ....

I tried to roll out bales behind the windbreaks and shelter in case the wind really picks up...Makes for a bumpy ride over all those frozen cow turds they have near the windbreaks.....

Are those made in China muck boots keeping your feet warm in this cold OT ? I could send you down a good made in Canada pair. Rated for 40 below, $35 at Canadian Tire.

Actually they are pretty nice- altho I can't wear them unless I'm out in the cold for a period of time...Sat in the auction barn all afternoon a week ago with them on and my feet just got too hot....

Only 14 Below here this morning...The wind has gone down- but the weather boys are predicting it to be back at 30 mph and 30 Below chill factors later in the day...

Daughter is driving home from Lewistown today so I hope the wind doesn't pick up too much...

Tonite's the predicted cold night...All temps 20-30 Below....

Groundhog saw his shadow this morning- so we should be getting an early spring :)

Actually, "Phil" didn't see his shadow this morning, which is supposed to indicate an early spring. On the downside, and I quote, "The groundhog's seasonal forecasting accuracy is somewhat low. Phil's Winter prognostications have been correct only 39% of the time."

Oh, well. :? :-)

Well if Phil lived in this part of Texas he wouldnt have seen his shadow either this mornin. It's over cast...but supposed to clear out and we are to be blessed with several days of sunshine and warmer temps. I'm ready for that.
We've got robins everywhere!!!!!!!!! That's always a more promising sign of spring than an old ground hog's prediction. When you drive out thru the pastures them lil robins is scurryin along every where, I keep tryin to get close enuff to get a good picture of one, they are so pretty with their bright orange belly.

In this country if the ground hog sees his shadow we have six more weeks of winter.

If he doesn't see his shadow it is only a month and a half until spring.
:cowboy:

Yep, it's a heads you win, tails I lose sort of a deal. Six of one or half a dozen of the other. Wait, that is 50% accuracy. Phil is only accurate 39% of the time. :? :-)

its a frosty old day out there today. Wind is still coming out of the NW and it will cut right through ya. Talking windchill values of -45 tomorrow nite.
