Pretty lucky and a good day...

We had friends from Spain stop by overnight with their motorhome. It was a bit of a surprise and an exciting visit. They have a 2 year old son who is engrossed in farms, cows, horses and the like. They made the comment that Canada is more child friendly than Spain. When I asked what they meant, they said they live in an apartment (like everyone else), their son can't play outside, no one knows each other, and the parks are shared by thousands of less than polite dog owners so even playing there is not really safe.
Their son loved moving cows this morning, and the space, and the horses out the back window of the motorhome, and the stars, and the wildlife...
Whenever you get stressed about farming/ranching it is pretty good to realize how good we all really have it here, and how excited people can get with the stuff that we sometimes miss in spite of ourselves.

Good point RSL. I entertained my cousin from western Oregon last weekend and he stated more that once that I was living his dream.

The only blessing better than spending time a horseback, working with the land, working cows, raising kids on a ranch and following in the footsteps of those who blazed the trail is being able to recognize what a blessing it is! Thanks for the reminder RSL!

Which is what makes it so hard to accept that I might be the last farmer in our family. In the business side of things, there is nothing here for my children to want to take over. No incentive to get into the best lifestyle in the place place on earth . . .

Hope all is well for you burnt, but when I hear a statement like this I gotta ask why?

Life is Good here, far better than anyone deserves.

I was on another site (non ranch-related) tonight and one of the members, who happens to love chickens, was complaining about how hard it was to find a place near where she lived in California where she could raise her chickens.

I thought of all the wide open space I've got with no neighbors and where I can do pretty much what I want.
