I am a student doing a play, and the character is supposed to be "applying resin to a bucking strap." Can anyone tell me where exactly on the bucking strap one would be applying resin, and how they would do it? Also, would one normally have the resin in some sort of bag, or is there some sort of container it is carried in?

I'm sure some old bull rider could fill you in better but i will try. Resin is used on a bull rope that is put around the belly and pulled tight and held with the riders hand. The resin is some times tied in a old sock.(Back in my day. It is rubbed up and down the rope to warm it and make it sticky to help the grip.
Find some old movies like 8 seconds or My heroes have always been cowboys or even Urban cowboy. Might be a scene or rosinin' a rope in one of those or even some PBR bull riding but I;m not sure if they show much of that.
