Did R-CALF endorse Obama?

That is not the question. I just wanted to know your opinion.
I agree my friend. There is much more all of us cattlemen have in common than not.Sandhusker said:Reader said:Sandhusker said:Did R-CALF endorse Obama?

Actually, my wife is about to throw me out of the house because I'm ranting about the gullibility of anybody who voted for that snake. I think our country just opened the door to the enemy and have him the keys to the castle.

Most people have a dictionary for a couple of reasons. One of them is so that they can use the proper word for the proper situation.
It seems there is more in common with Dems than other ag groups. Plus Farmers Union is definately lib and they seem to be pretty big partners with one another.RobertMac said:Why would you think just because someone is a member of R-CALF, they are liberal? We do have an occasional bad apple...Oldtimer   , but most people in production ag are traditional conservatives.
Shaft said:As usual SH, you and Noah have it wrong yet again. The word used in economics circles is "protectionism", not "protectionist".
The only real dictionary of the English language, The Oxford English Dictionary, defines protectionism as:
'The theory or practice of shielding a country's domestic industries from foreign competition by taxing imports."
R-CALF represents an upgraded form of protectionism. No need to tax imports when you can prevent them altogether. Semantics are what politicians and weasels hide behind. What's your excuse?
However, just to keep you happy, I personally prefer to think of R-CALF as a bunch of short-sighted, narrow-minded isolationists.
"Isolationism - a policy of remaining apart from the affairs or interests of other groups, especially the political affairs of other countries."
Y'all just don't seem to get that 'e pluribus unum' is a darned good motto that just needs a little expansion of the mind and borders in a global economy.
At the end of the day I fear Obama will suit you just fine.

Shaft said:Interesting chart in the May 2008 Beef Watch (Cattlemen magazine). It shows the Alberta v. US slaughter cow prices in Canadian dollars for the period June 1998 to January 2008. In the pre-May 20, 2003 period the prices are virtually identical. After that there is a discrepancy that continues to this day with Alberta cattle slaughter prices being significantly lower.
I though R-CALF was complaining that packers were buying Canadian cattle cheaper pre-BSE, but this graph belies that argument. It seem that the truth is that the spread in prices, while driven originally by BSE, is now being driven by something else. You R-CALFers might want to look down to check that you still have both feet. I suspect you have blown at least one of them clean off, but just haven't noticed yet. You will.
Here's another word for your lexicon. Pusillanimous. As in pusillanimous pinhead - someone who hides behind semantics and nitpicking in order to obscure the truth because he hasn't the courage or intelligence to face up to it.

Go look that up.
