Katrina- If you want to judge my cattle come on up- walk/ride thru them... I'll feed you some good old Montana raised grassfinished steak.....You or anyone here is welcome anytime...

But I damn sure take exception to your comment about my cattle needing supplements...

As far as that supplement comment- and the snide comment you made on Shortgrass's supplement thread about me- if you look back- I did not post on that thread....Soapweed did- and it was a comment of mine taken out of context from a PB thread where he was moaning and groaning about ethanol subsidies raising grain/corn prices so high that it had made cake prices overly high... My comment back to him was that while it hurt cake prices it helped grain farmers- and intended to mean that you can not always stay with one type of management- or count on one type of feed source- and sometimes when one feed source gets nonprofitable- you have to change- either feed sources or management or both...

But like I said it was PB being brought over to ranchtalk ....

No, Oldtimer, it was not a Political Bull post being brought over to Ranch Talk. It was originally a post on Ranch Talk that you, in your infiinite wisdom, moved to Political Bull. Get your darn stories straight before you flap your jaws.

Yep, it was started on Ranch Talk and moved to PB.

BMR and I have wondered what exactly happened to a couple
of our posts. They disappeared.

Guess they weren't politically correct either, even
though they had nothing to do with politics.

I guarantee you- none disappeared by my hands....

And I did not move the post to PB- some other moderator did- but that appears as tho where it belonged in the first place....

Sure glad I'm a one man ranch as I have'nt had time to read hardly any of these post's. But I do agree the energy business is making it hard on the cow business but $900 calves should help some with riseing cost's.As far as the calf goes his value may be in his daughters if thats how he's bred alot of times your best bull is'nt the fanciest looking.pretty is as pretty does.My ex-wife was very pretty and very high demand and very high input low output. I had a very pretty registered cow nice udder fat and flashy looking front pasture type she weighed 1395#s yesterday as she's fat her calf damn near starved on her nurseing.

Since I have gotten so many calls-PMs- e-mails about my breeding lines- I thought I would update on this little bull that Katrina hates...

Denny is right that the main reason I was looking at him was because of his maternal background - and what he may be able to do to build momma cows... I usually look at genetics and maternal performance-and really hold mid road/moderation-- but this little guy added some exceptional quick growth which to me is just an added benefit... Just shined in growth from when he was born....

He weighed off with an actual weaning weight of 705-- while the average of the bull calves was 641... With his pedigree- and parents I think that growth will subside before he matures (dam is a 4 frame that probably doesn't weigh 1100 lbs and probably has weaned off her calves at 60- 65% of her weight - sire is "maybe" almost a 5 frame that weighs 2100- 2200)- so I perceive he will probably throw "moderate" framed cows- which is what I'm looking for...If they are fast growing with some weaning weight- that to me is an added plus to keeping moderate maternal cattle.... :D And gentle as a puppy dog which to me is one of my high decision factors (out of a pet cow- and sired by a bull you can scratch his back anywhere- same as his/her sire was).....

With his sire being a Bannon of Wye 8420 son #15800329 (mgs Basin Max 602C) and his dam being a Bannon of Wye 8420 daughter #16175571 ( Indreland Traveller/Viking/EXT breeding on bottom) - all cowmakers- I'm hoping for him to be a cowmaker....

A little bull calf that keeps catching my eye.. Double bred Bannon of Wye.

Here is why I have been watching that bull calf to see how he develops:

This is the calfs dam- a 4 frame cow that last year as a heifer brought in a heifer calf that weaned at 613 lbs - which was probably 60+% of her body weight..

Even with all the moisture and excessive grass we had this year- everyones calves are coming in lighter (apparently the grass was too washy- and didn't have the protein OOOMPH it normally has)...But the bull calf has really put the weight on the last month....

So much snow the last few days- and 4 degrees temps this morning so I haven't got any late pictures- but I will keep it updated... Probably be 10 years before I know if he is what I hope him to be- and does what I want him to do- or not!!!

Heres another bull calf we kept (besides some others) for Katrina to tell me how bad they are:

A Cole Creek Juanada Rita 69W # 16453096 74 lb son sired by Bannon 730T # 15800329-- back about the end of March when he was born....

I'm guessing if her word is any good, she is long gone, and is missing this discussion. You got some nice stock, Oldtimer.

Yup ot you piece of trash you had to come clean and not only that add more pictures to try and cover your ash.. I still say your bull would be a steer at my house.. That said I'm done here..  Have a nice day..

Maybe she's like my sister, menopause is hard on her right now!!!

I'd rather sandpaper a tigers ash in a phone booth than to have to deal with her right now!!!!

I think your animals look great OT, but then, compared to mine in this tough climate, all northern cattle look great to me. :D

I'd also say it appears you're too thin-skinned to be posting pics of your animals. Just sayin'......
