We have been waiting for a warm spell. Today was supposed to be -1C (just like yesterday). Only thing was it was -25C with a windchill of - 35 when we started out to get cows. Drove the trailer 5 minutes, unloaded and made a trail in 3 miles to the cows. We pushed some bush to get the cows lined out, crossed the creek and when we hit the top of the other side it was the same only the wind had changed direction. 3 more miles and the wind was really whipping and it started snowing ice pellets. Dad loaded his horse on the trailer and followed cows while I rode point to stop traffic, cover gates, turn cows, etc.
We looked all over and looking back from the far side with teh binocular check we missed 2 cows, but we can run hay over to them and trailer them home when it actually warms up.
Unfortunately no pics, as it was too cold to snap, take gloves off, answer the phone, or any other task...
Fun morning...Only down side is we found a cow that slipped her calf. I am not sure why the only problems we have seem to be when we start feeding cows. :?
How's everyone else making out this winter?
