What a ripoff.

I'm a bit of a history nut-one of the most eerie places I've been is the Custer Battlefield about the same time of year as the battle was fought. Was a beautiful spring day then you thought of all that happened. Mostly you wonder what was Custer thinking!

Peach and I went through the Custer Battlefield while on our honeymoon in late June of 1979, almost 103 years to the day from when the battle took place. On that particular occasion, the whole countryside was covered with yellow sweet clover. Even the locals said they had never seen anything like it. Everywhere you looked was bright yellow and pretty. It was sad thinking of how the area was blood red after the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876.

As far as the statement "mostly you wonder what was Custer thinking!" he was not thinking very clearly. Custer tended to let his ego get in the way of doing too much deep thinking.

General George Armstrong Custer was kind of a poster child for Proverbs 16:18 "Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall."

"Son of the Morning Star' is a good read about the Indians side of the battle. 'Custer and Crazy Horse' is a good one about how their lives parallelled in alot of ways and what happened when they finally met. It must of been quite a sight to see the big horse herds around that Indian village.

Custer's scout came ridin' like crazy to report back.
"I've got good news and bad news sir", the scout said.
Custer tells him,"Well, give me the bad news first".
The scout says,"Sir, there are several thousand indians just over that hill, and they are MAD".
Ol' Yellow Hair asks him, " What in the heck could the good news possibly be"?
With a look of impending doom, the scout tells him, "Well sir, atleast we aint gotta ride back across the Dakotas again".

Lakota Noon is a good book about the Custer battle, he was almost not famous. He was late for the battle. It was written to the Indians side also, as no white men survived. Lakota Noon gives almost minute by minute time line of that battle and events leading up to it.

I have to hand it to you guys on this one we went from one guy getting pissed off because he wants something for nothing, to bartering over the the hourly wage, to a brief history lesson, and back to the ear tags. I would have to say the circle is complete.

I have an eartag, which I didn't believe I'd get, that came from the JA Ranch in Palo Duro Canyon in Texas, and I would be glad to sell it for $150. Shipping and handling are extra. :D

Not every hour is a billable hour, for anyone. Also, I may be dual tasking. Some folks can do more than walk and chew gum at the same time.

$150 an hour and you're beggin for free tags?????/

You're either a lawyer or banker with that way of thinkin'

Why don't you folks spend your money in your local economy....feed store/co-op/tractor store...and BUY your tags?

You people are EXACTLY what you scream about...a bunch of folks wanting something for free when they can work/pay for it themselves. That's why this country is so messed up....everyone screaming for their little 'free' bits.

If some of you make the $$$$ you brag about....why are ya so damn cheap then squeal like pig if you don't get your FREE goodie bag????

I bet some of you wait all year for this guy to show up so you can get 8-10 pieces of free plastic. If it was free shite you'd all still line up....

How many of you go and actually BUY some tags from this guy after you sample the FREE goods? None would be my guess....

Wrong-- I did... I sent in the info last year and a testimonial on our prior use of the Z tags- which I had been buying plain thru the local stores...

They created the ranch name on a stamp and sent me 50 free ones with the ranch name stamped on them...I liked the way they looked so well- that I kept the invoice that came with the free ones- and since we needed more tags this year- called them and gave them the old order number to match the tags....
They informed me they are a wholesaler- so can't sell direct to the customer- but gave me the names of several local dealers that could order them for me... I did- and about a week ago, UPS delivered the new supply of tags...

You'd guess wrong! I recieved a free bag of tags last year when Kerry ran this same promotion. I liked the heck out of them and have since bought more through our local dealer. This is merely a company that is trying to get their product in front of the folks who will be buying it. While a special few will cry and whine, the rest of us will become customers like I did. The whole world isnt full of democrats Jingo2. Some of us actually contribute to society in many ways!

I got free ones last year after sending in a testimonial on how well they worked for me. I buy more every year. They are doing it for advertising. Cheaper then a Super Bowl ad and twice as effective. :D

Have you tried the Z tags Jingo?

A few free ones in return for a testimonial and the several thousand I've bought over the years isn't a bad trade off. Is there ANYTHING on ranchers.net anymore that doesn't launch a tirade.

Ohh once ranchers had a nut
And jingo
