We had a nasty one Monday night. Some people say 3" of rain, others are saying 5, all came down in an hour, mostly sideways. We have trees uprooted, sheds blown over, grain bins mangled and blown across fields, and water everywhere. I was lucky to have a good friend here for a BBQ, and while Candace and the kids tried to mop up water coming through basement windows, he and I bailed it with buckets and trenched it away from the house. With two 5 gallon pails going as hard as we could, we couldn't keep up with it filling the window wells. At least the trench worked and we had minimal moisture in the house.
Some pastures there are so many trees down it's flattened long stretches of fence, like 50-500 yards in places. Lots of our wind fence here at home went down. Cattle all seem fine, thankfully. Our herd bull is happy, as the windfence between him and the milk cow went down, so those 2 love birds were snuggling when I found them yesterday morning.
Chickens faired OK. Lost 3 chicks, probably smothered as they were all piled up trying to stay warm. We had no power until noon yesterday. The pig tractor took a beating, although the pigs are fine. I'll try to post some pics in the coming days, as words just don't do the job. I've never seen anything like this other than on the tube from other parts of the world. Crazy times.
