    Question???

I don't envy where he's headed. Might tell him to watch Snoqualmie Pass west of Ellensburg, it can have restrictions this time of year. The roads are usually fairly good, but it is all the idiot "wet-siders" you need to watch out for.

    bale rings/feeders

I bought one from Go Bob Pipe that is the best I have ever used and built to last. The bottom is not skirted, but it is amazing how they waste virtually nothing out of this feeder. And it is built to last.

    AI -Gestation Period

Getting back to the topic, there is some evidence that these calving ease sires used for AI are getting the accuracies because their calves have a shorter gestation length.

    Nightshade in cornstalks

Has anyone that grazes corn stalks ever dealt with black nightshade? A field I am about to go to has it in the field, probably 5-10% of the total forage available. The Toxicology professor at WSU said I should be fine unless an animal takes a liking to the nightshade. Just wondered if any one...

Thanks for the picture and your info in the message. I should probably get in touch with Fulton's and decide if we are going to breed this mare of ours.

    Quiet wean nose tags

We've used them the last two years and wouldn't do anything else. We have lost a few, but did not make too much of a deal. Those calves did not bawl much since nobody else was.

Random Cow photos I took this week

Look good!! In that picture of the Lady cow, do they graze that foxtail? Must be a real alkali or wet area right there?

    Tiny Little Calf

That is not what "fawn calf" is when concerned with Angus genetics. Fawn calves have a bend to their legs which make it hard for them to stand, but it is also not a lethal defect.

    select sires

http://www.selectsiresbeef.com/index.php?option=com_php&Itemid=114&id=54&breed=Angus This is the sire of the bull I used on my heifers this year. He's got alot of style and his numbers look fitting for a heifer bull. http://www.accelgen.com/htm/sire_pages/014AN00379.html This is the bull we...

    Bred Calves

A good friend of mine has been dealing with this the past couple of years. He runs on leased pasture and runs his cattle seperate, but two other outfits run on the same ranch. He pulls his bulls, but then the neighbor bulls get in with them. He has been doing the blood pregnancy test on his...

    Sioux Steel Chute

I have two friends that have the Stampede chutes, one hydraulic and one manual. I like the hydraulic, who wouldn't. Both of them seemed a little ackward to me for giving shots in the neck. I'd really like to see a Sioux in person, but the videos of them look pretty good. Might have to make a...

    OCC and Cole Creek Angus

I think both programs have it figured out real well for their environment, but I don't think they hold the golden key for everything. Not saying one bit that they don't run good cattle, but I would venture to say in the right circle of people, that they would say SAV holds the golden key. Alot...

    Cow that can't get up

"Ya, and sometimes you can kinda roll their ear and do a banchee scream into it" LIttle Joe - that has got me rolling on the floor!!! I've tried that little trick on several animals and I have never been able to get them to figure out what I want!!!

    Bull Reports

Hey NR, I used up my last 5 straws of Lad last spring and got 4 real nice F1 heifer calves. Sure like the couple daughters I have out of him. Do you have much of it floating around somewhere? My opinion on the high prices on these bulls is that for the last couple years, ranchers have had...
