    Been a while.

Well I have an idea but not sure what to do about it! Lol Ya they are already pretty good help. The oldest can drive really good by now. Great help picking up square bales. Haven’t turned him loose on the tractor yet. Maybe a little next year. My wife thought it would be good they all had a...

    Been a while.

Since I logged on here. Thought would stop in and see how it’s been here. We’ve had another above average rainfall year for the second in a row. Crops and cattle really look good. We are just a little over a month away from our 7th baby hatching out. Exciting and a little scary at the same time...

A rational response to Tomi Lahrens COOL video

This whole thing is going to be a pain. However I feel too many people lean on ctc as the magic prevent all thing to throw into any ration or mineral to any age critter. I have used it before but if it's a dry summer with no standing water do we really need ctc in all the mineral for foot rot...

Final Thoughts on Cherry County Wind, by Steve Moreland December 10, 2016

I agree with you on this. I dang sure wouldn't want them either but at a land sale it only takes two guys. Unless all the ground sold around there is going to investors and not cattlemen the value I say isn't going to change any. One thing I wonder and never found an answer is what happens to...

Final Thoughts on Cherry County Wind, by Steve Moreland December 10, 2016

I can understand not wanting wind towers in your area. I wouldn't want them and all the added traffic in my area. However the article about property being unsalable is ludicrous. Property in your area is being bought to raise cattle on not sell pictures to a magazine. Where my wife is from there...

Letter to Cherry County Commissioners regarding Wind Energy

That was an excellent letter. I used to think wind energy was ok but didn't really know anything about it. Where my wife if from there has grown a big wind farm. The problem that came up was they have their spots where are ideal to put towers. They approached one guy about putting a whole bunch...

    Hey there

I know it's been a while since i have been on here just checking in. We have been super busy this past year. We sold our house and are in the process of building a new one. Really not a good time with the prices as they are but oh well. Have been staying in our camper most of the summer the kids...

    February Arrived with a bang

We are in a blizzard warning. Snowed all last night and this morning. Hard to tell how much as the wind is crazy. Every bit of 12" of snow. Wind currently steady at 37 mph. Supposed to go down to 10-15 mph by sun up tomorrow. Two hours east just got a little rain shower and wind 5 mph now.

    December rain

I can't even begin to imagine rain like that. We are still dryer than average here. By the way is the cat still around with all the rain or wash away? Lmao

    Commodity Deflation

These are bottomless with square tube skeleton. They are probably built twice too heavy but they should last longer anyway. I just used the sheet metal part as example on prices cause they stuck in my head. Cost about 25-30% less total than last year. Maybe we were just getting hosed before I...

    Commodity Deflation

I think you need to find a new supplier if your price is higher. Last January we got 4x8x 11 ga sheet metal to make feed bunks cost $77. Just ordered more this week cost $56 if took 200 sheets was $36. This isn't a big time supplier but delivers every Monday and only has like a $150 minimum.

    Why the downward slide?

I'm not all up to date on the whole cool thing so maybe I shouldn't put my 2 cents in but here we go anyway. It seems to me that you guys from up north are scared of what your prices would do if all your beef was stamped raised in Canada. I can't say I blame you after all perception is reality...

    Risk Management

In my experience these types of things always make them money and usually don't help you. I have used a place before to help market not necessarily a risk management thing but I think they kind of go together. What happens is even on a 5 year stretch you will end up with the same money minus...

    School

I went in January of 2010. Lots of info. If you're looking for just ai would go to a class put on by a bull service company. But for all around it was great for me.

    How windy was it?

   Was in the mid 20's here last few days for wind. Has just died down to pretty much nothing tonight. Supposed to be back up to 30 mph for Friday.

    handling & feeding cake

We use a good tub and loose mineral when on stalks. Feeding alfalfa kind of makes them lazy for us. They would rather sit around and wait for the pickup or run to the edge of the field every time a diesel pickup drives by slower. I had a good quote on ddg but not really sure how to feed it...
