Yes, the tail is on hydraulics, and it is a hydraulic winch run with a gas motor, not sure what it is rated at for pounds. We did have to put tin down on the deck to make it easier to push off, but it was pushing up to 20,000 lbs of bales. We generally put on 300 bales a load, we have made...

Hayguy in a past post you had asked about unloading bales easier...here is what we use with a self unloading trailer...but we still don't have it figured out as we load everything by hand..but self unload. Loaded and ready to go Drop the tail and ready to unload [/img] Pushing off...

    Bonsai...

Thanks for the feedback! Yes Purecountry, the Aussie's all had a UTE's, but the ones I drove were all bigger than this type of vehicle. I saw the odd ford, and one GMC in ten months.....this was about 10 years ago. Funny thing was they just drooled over the NA pick-ups.

    Bonsai...

I am not worried about road travel, but more in breaking in fresh snow driving through the pasture/fields in the winter. I think you would need different tires to better handle snow, and give more clearance. Just curious how it handles in snow vs a quad. Wouldn't be hard to add weight...

We were looking at one last fall. Any idea how they would do in the snow?

    SandPoints

Well the beauty of the sandpoint, is there is no sand in the line that get to the pumps, so that is not an issue. But there is no casing or much diameter with a sandpoint, it is just 2 inch pipe attached to the sandpoint up to the surface. We will just have to try a pump out and see how it...

    SandPoints

Pretty quiet thread...thanks for the response. Yeah solar pumps work well out of dugouts. Our Sandpoint is over 30 years old. Pumps pretty good with a gas engine. Will have to try solar...maybe can get some money to pay for part of the pump!

    SandPoints

Neat, how old is your sandpoint. Know anyone using a solar system to pull off one?

    SandPoints

Reading some other discussions on Hauling water. I was just wondering how many people use Sandpoints to access groundwater? I guess, I grew up with them as we have lots of sandy soil and fairly high water table, but for those who are not familiar with them they are basically a perforated pipe...

I want to work on a ranch!

Hi MissHolly, the idea of going out somewhere, where you can get a deal to work for room and board is not so bad. the experience you will gain certainly have value to it. I am a farmboy, and I went over to Australia and did some work and travelling, and at a couple of the places, I did just...

    Fun Day.

Hi Judith, the one thing you have to watch though, is all those glass claims are probably driving up your insurance cost. I personally don't bother with glass insurance. by the time you pay the deductible and the rate increase in insurance. I am just better off driving looking the through...

    Calgary Stampede

I think anyone in the top four after 9 days of racing has a fair shot at the pot, same as the other events come down to a showdown. Maybe the best time though could pick their barrel, at least give them an advantage.

The most unusual event on your farm/Ranch ?

I am not sure if this is strange, but quite amazing....we had a 12 year old cow give us a set of twins at the beginning of March, raised two nice heifers, which turned into great cows...but the amazing part of this story was that at the end of February, (less than a year later) she had a set of...

    Land Value

I heard rumors that 28 quarters were sold to a single buyer for $28,000 per quarter, and it was said to be the price family....not sure though, really just rumours. There was a huge auction at Stockholm Sask, yes near Yorkton....check out the Western Producer.

Cold night here at our place.

Well hope you get some moisture, I was talking to some friends around Dubbo (Warren) a couple of weeks ago and said they were as dry as ever. Sure has been a tough haul the last 3 years for you guys. Cattle prices should still be high for you guys though? Are you near Armidale? I worked with...
