Not The Weekend I Expected

NR....have the Dr's cked your Vit D levels?

It's a BIG factor in colon/intestinal cancers and esp for you folks living in the Great White North as 99% of ya'll will be deficient due to the lack of sun exposure on a yrly basis.

It's something you might want to remember to ask about.

That might be true for those that stay indoors all winter, but it's a fact that it doesn't take much sun on the hands and face to get all the vit. D you need. Plus, our milk is all enriched with it as well.

Northern Rancher, wishing the best for you. I haven't been on here for a while and almost decided not to read the thread when its up to 6 pages. I'm glad I clicked on it. It is kind of odd how much I am thinking about you in your situation when your someone I have never meet before.
I would imagine that you may have some treatments to go thru now.

Maybe all of this came about from the food you eat on the road. It sticks in my mind about a bad steak you ate in Bozeman. Maybe it never really passed thru.

Good luck and keep up the positive attitude.

I'm pretty sure one bad tasting steak didn't cause it-just a bit of bad luck more or less. As far as eating on the road I never was much of a junk food junkie-we'd try and plan it so the boys could eat pretty healthy-I learned that from packing hockey teams you don't perform too well on a bad stomach. Peg nobody can relate to the joy of eating till you can't for a week or so. I got alot of company yesterday so am a bit played out right now but it's a good tired for sure.

In our long winters we're no where near getting the right amount of vitamin D.Hence the reason S.A.D is so high in Canada and esp the western provinces.EVERYONE of us NEED to supplement with a vitamin D!!!! And Sad lights are also huge help. I could go on and on about the effects of low vitamin D in our country and the reasons we're seeing things like MS,ALS...etc in such high numbers, not to mention certain cancers and depressions...

I'll jump off my soapbox and tell you look more into this you Canucks and Americans living long winters...its darn important for your health...

Northern:

Sorry to hear the Big C landed you in the hospital; but I am glad to hear you're out and on the mend!!!

Six years ago, my Dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. Thankfully, through his annual colonoscopy screening, they caught it soon enough that he didn't even need treatment. He has been cancer free since. So, the take home message for all of us, is to get your annual check ups. They do save lives, as unpleasant as they may be.

I hope your prognosis is as bright as my Dad's, and I have not doubt it is, as you're probably the toughest guy I know, and certainly the guy with the most "fight" to win that I know too.

Good luck!!!

Cheers---

TTB

Your positive attitude is your best bet for recovery, and of course lots of support. You have both. All the best.

On the Vit D thing, the sun needs to be on at least a 45 degree angle in order for the atmosphere not to filter out the UVs that give the Vit D. That is why we need the cod liver oil in the winter. We're good to go now.

This might sound sick but I actually don't mind the taste of cod liver oil lol. The way I figure it tears never grew much green grass or made many sick people better and there's alot more people in worse off deals than I'll ever be in.

I'm just about back to fighting weight lol.

Well I guess that goes to show that I don't really know you all that well.

The way I had you figured was that any weight was a good fighting weight for you . . . . .

:lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Keep up the fight there buddy.

I don't see you retreating from anything.
You're the perfect example of intestinal fortitude.
(no pun intended)

Thinking about all those kids you've been involved with and
the time you've given them and a little verse comes to mind:

"You make a living by what you get; you make a living by
what you give." You LIVE big, NR.

I'm getting to steal pants that my kid has outgrown-kind of sweet to call Ty lardass lol. He was in town today getting his tux modified to fit over his cast for grad on Friday.
