Not The Weekend I Expected

Well I had my first visit with the oncologist today-I've gained my weight back but I didn't grow any since the operation. Looks like they're going to plumb a pic line into my arm so I can take a chemo pump home with me. Eight months of chemo and then a bit of choppy chop and hopefully I can invite Hannibal Lecter over for fried liver lol. Explained to my Dr. that you don't call a rancher the F word-farmer- he thought that was good. So all in all not a bad day-they did a CT scan I still can't get my head aroun d how somebody was smart enough to invent all that stuff but glad they did.

Hell of a way to diet NR  :P Prayers and thoughts from down here...

Does Canada allow medical marijuana while you're on chemo?... I had a friend that was on chemo- and the only way he could get an appetite or hold anything down on his stomach- or even stand the smell of food cooking was by using marijuana....Was probably the biggest redneck anti doper you ever saw--but sure became a believer when he was sick....

It kind of sucks that I might have to start it same weekend Ty starts rodeoing in Bozeman-I'll be suffering from bronc withdrawal if I don't get to any fall rodeos.

Well all the best to you in the next months then Northern. I sure admire your attitude and the humor you put into your last post!!

But be careful how you go around dissing the "f" armer word the way you did. Cuz somebody has to grow the grain needed to try to put a bit of flesh on those critters you ranchers raise to make beef . . . :)

Like FH said, there will be more broncs down the road.

Well I know the world needs farmers I just don't like being mistaken as one-I'd be the world's worst at it if I was. The oncologist agreed with me he said he doesn't like being called a dentist either-he's an East Indian fellow but actually was quite interested in ranching always fun to meet new people.

Thankfully you have an awesome wife that is well trained to hold the reins. Try not to impede her while recovering at home. She is most likely used to your being on the rodeo trail. All the best and here's to a speedy recovery. You have plenty of moral support. :cboy:

Well I just got things put in perspective-one of Ty's friends just got killed in a head on last night. His Mom and I are good friends we graduated together and so did our sons. Life is a fragile thing we sure need to spend as much time as we can living it and less time complaining about it.

Boy NR, reality is tougher than fiction for sure. Life is a fragile thing and I commend you for recognizing that.

Wow, life really can throw curves at times. Sure is great that you see what is really important through times like this.
Elk season opens on the first of Sept. so come do some of that here on your way to Dave's bear!

NorhternRancher, my thoughts and prayers go to you, Ty, your family and the family of the boy who was killed. I'm so sorry to hear that.

As far as your chemo goes, maybe you'll be one of the fortunate ones who are not too adversley affected by it. I know a few folks who handled it pretty well, with very few ill side effects.

God speed and hang in there, you're a "tough old bird".
