USDA Vet Alleges Unreported Cases of BSE

Actually, Hat, our beef is better than yours. Ask any of those high end restaurants who used to specialize in it. Or maybe ask any of those now shakey American packers who used to process it and pass it straight on to Japan.

The reason anyone up here would have opposed COOL in the past is because of fears it would lower the price paid for our beef because of the extra costs of segregating it in your country. NOT because we were afraid no one would want it. I guess worrying about lower prices is not an issue any more, so bring it on! We welcome it.

The way the talk in your country has been going about the integrity of the USDA lately, how much longer will that USDA stamp signify quality and safety? Your buddies in Montana seem to be working hard to make sure it won't be much longer.

If I didn't worry so much about the results, I would laugh at you dumb Canadians on this board. You are no better than R-Calf.

The best defence against BSE is to keep it out of the country. You have found 3 cases for sure in your country and don't know where it came from. You keep trying to push that under the rug and ignore it by saying we have it here but havn't found it, or are not trying to find it.

You keep repeating, and making an issue of, what some idiots who just want to see thier name in print have said. All this will do is confuse the consumer and discourage him from buying beef.

We opened the border to your boxed beef when we thought you just had an isolated case, now you have found two more.

You want a share of our market. Well, if you don't change your tone, we may not have a market. Then we will all be out of the cattle business.

I favor presenting the true and well established facts weather they favor us or not, but rumors and speculation have no place. We in the beef business, do not want to do, as those in the tobacco industry has done.

We just want to know how the pile is under your rug. Friedlander was at the top of the heap and recieved accolades from USDA in the past so is obviously not just "some idiot" just because he says something you don't want to hear. I am glad you mentioned that you are worried about the results. We all should be especially with R-Calf continually trying to make it into a human health issue.

Pride is one thing. We all need to feel proud about something. Absolute arrogance to the point of believing one is bullet proof is usually fatal.
